Suspect Pleads Guilty in Charles County Arson Case

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) - One of the suspects charged in the December 2004 fires at a Charles County subdivision has entered a guilty plea.

Twenty-one-year-old Michael Everhart of Waldorf pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to a charge of conspiracy to commit arson in the fires at the Hunter's Brooke development near Indian Head.

Prosecutors say Everhart conspired with four other men to set the fires at 35 houses under construction. The homes were not occupied at the time of the fires.

A trial held for Everhart and 23-year-old Roy McCann ended in March with a hung jury. McCann is scheduled to have a new trial next year. Everhart is to be sentenced September 8th.

The other defendants are already serving their prison sentences.

hopefully they get what they deserve as well as to pay the money back.... matter of fact, they should be in jail and stay in there until collectively they have ALL worked off the price and value of each and every home.

if it means LIFE in jail as in, you die there, then so be it.

What a shame. That'll be SUCH a crushing loss for society.
