Due to the GM/ Delphi/ UAW deal I might be looking into the Wilmington Plant to transfer to mainly for the reason of the Dupont Childrens Hospital. Whats the weather and area like up there year round??? Any help is appreciated.

we had 1 minor snow storm this year. Otherwise you would be more than fine.

Yeah i live about 15 mins from the wilmington plant. It wasn't to bad this year, freakishly warmer all winter, except for the one snow storm. As far as winter goes I usually throw on the steelies just in case it snows, other than that you should be ok.

we usually will get about 2-3 snow storms a winter, it's around 40 as a high for the days...spring/fall the temps and days are awsome, summer it can get kinda hot because it's humid around here but it's only a 2hr easy ride to the delaware beaches which makes for a nice weekend trip.

if you move close to that plant were gonna see each other alot, i live like 10 min from it, if that

As far as taxe rates go Delaware is one of the best in the country. We also have tax free shopping. Crime rate is something that depends on where your gonna be living. 97cavy might be able to help on that a little more since he lives closer to the plant then I do. Just stay away from north Wilmington, That place sucks.

Suburbs: Pike Creek (20min drive to plant), Hockessin (aprox 25-30 mins)

Elsmere is not to bad, cops are very strict about the speed limit there, but they are always patrolling since its such a small town. Its about 10 mins from the plant.

Theres also a couple neighborhoods right across from the plant that aren't too bad. Mostly because the Newport Police Station is 1 minute away and alot of cops have to live within the area of the station (my uncle is one of them).

right outside of wilmington is not to bad, there are alot of nice suburbs right around where the plant is there are developments everywhere that are all decent areas. I wouldn't move into newcastle or elsmere cuz both are kinda getto....and stay away from the acctual city, although there is really nice rich parts it's only a short drive from the hood where people might come out and bother you.

like ex said pike creek and hockessin seem to be where alot of the middle-upper class people but ya never know.

and tax free shopping is AWSOME, you will never want to go back to a palce w/ it again lol. Overall it's a nice area, your like a half hour from philly, about an hour for baltimore, close to atlantic city and the casinos/clubs, it's a pretty good local.

its really only bad in philly and upper darby (right next to philly). the wilmington area isnt that bad (atleast to me its not)
