Columbia meets.... ready to start again?
Sunday, March 19, 2006 9:56 PM
I think I'm about ready to start doing Columbia meets again.. just in our old classic spot. I'm not planning on this coming weekend but the weekend after. Friday nigth AND/OR Saturday night. I have two cars now so when I say I am going, I am going. I will be bringing the TDI out until the Sunbird is tagged and insured again and then I will be taking it.
If you are interested, please say so. If you are not interested save your time. Nobody wants to know how bad of a time you had last year or how big of a waste it all was. It's all wha tyou make of it.

Rules: Just don't make a scene. Don't pull five minute burn outs or slide around the parking lot with your e-brake up because that is the kind of thing that gets us kicked out of everywhere we go (that and air horns .) Drive like an ass as you please.. rev it high, chirp the tires, just don't get carried away.
Also, lets not jump off into groups and avoid the crowd. You can talk to the two friends you have at home.
Any make/model/motor..... invite them all!

You know the deal.. don't put your name down if you don't mean it.

true, but why beg for some form of action to be taken on behalf of the restaurant? just...behave, and act like adults, and you won't have to worry about the potential for police involvement in the future.

doesn't seem like a hard thing to do.

Hey that's all Josh.............we all know Josh is a little insane lol!

but you're associated with him, and will be treated the same way they treat him. if you all come in, and he's disruptive...what if they call the police? they will tell the police that it was the group, not one particular individual.

it just seems foolish to willingly allow crap like that to happen around you.

Nope, minute that crap happens I am out. I don't like cops, and don't respect the @!#$ ones. I had premission from that place to meet there, if by chance someone wants to ruin that I just won't be there. That's not my problem that people are stupid, but I refuse to stay if people do that crap.

Thats how I was last year. I was good never caused any trouble but I will roll out the second anything starts to get stupid! I like you guys and all but I don't want any trouble.

Josh I'm down you should know that. Since Kim has her Cavi now looks like she'll be there too. Laura, how about a special guest apperence? I know its kinda far for you guys but it would be nice to see you all again.

i doubt it'll happen. i don't go to car meets anymore...i spend too much time concentrating on work, Mike, and other personal matters. besides, i'm pretty much out of it. i grew up: i don't like just sitting in a parking lot or a restaurant every weekend. i'd rather go and do things.

True enough. Hey guys how about if we all go like mountain bikeing or something?
I mean cars are cool and all but Lauras right, without something to do it does tend to get boreing after a while.

So anyone like to ride bikes besides me?

My forum we actually have fun productive meets......chill with the cars and show off, do cruises and have dinner and stuff. I've pretty much come to terms that ALOT of people here won't show. Reason we had Hard Times meets was because of the resturant. I started it at the mall so we could do dinner, drinks a movie or even mall. Hell coulda even cruised up to Arundle Mills.........But no one wants to do those things!

that's the other problem - people like me don't feel like driving that far. i'm conserving gas(as well as everything else). it's a little different when you live on your own and have more to pay for. i don't like wasting my time or money for some retarded boring evening.

i've been to two of your meets, and both bored me to hell. here's an idea: when it's nicer, go to an amusement park. go to the zoo. do something that you wouldn't normally do on a weekend(mall, movies, dinner). find something INTERESTING to do.

We're not forcing you to come, if you don't want to. No one forced you to come to that meet, and no one forced you to stay. To each his/her own....

As far as amusement parks, there aren't any good local.

Honestly this is why I stopped even bothering trying meets with people on this site. People are either lazy or don't wanna bother. Laura, just so this is said, I am not attacking you in anyway, just explaining in general.....I remember maybe a year ago you asked me why I bother with people from Teckademics and groups like that. Yeah sometimes it's boring hanging out in a parking lot, but it's also a meeting place to branch off or decide as a group to go and do things. Yes when you make meets etc there are a majority of people who don't show, but it seems in my experience that a majority of no shows are on this site (that isn't pointed at anyone in paticular).

i understand you're not attacking me - nor am i attacking you - but do you understand why i suggest things like that?

there are three amusement parks within driving distance, two zoos, a science center and an aquarium in baltimore and TONS of free museums down in DC. there's so much more available to do than just sit in a parking lot, and when such things are suggested by anyone but you, no one has any interest whatsoever. even when you suggest things, apparently no one has any interest because of all the no-shows.

you folks should have come with us to the rennfest last August. we had an absolute blast - but no one had any interest.

Oh I understand where your coming from. That's why I have been MIA from this site. DC Speed does so much for me and are a great bunch of people. It's hard when you get on here and have constant dumbasses (I know I can be sometimes) and fight with people....plus alot of the lowlifes who think they are better then everyone (no finger pointing, just in general). I know it's hard to get people out, but I remember even when people tried to have that meet for the OC Car and Truck Show, when I got there maybe 5 people were there. And the ones that were stayed in their own little group and wouldn't talk to us! It's just so hard.

Once I get back from my deployment in July I'll have alot of money in the bank. So I'm either picking up a new factory boosted car, or boosting the Malibu. Either way, I'll be there for sure. Josh, mind me asking what you paid for that TDI? Because 300wheel torque seems mighty tempting if I could find one for sale...hmmm....

i meant like having a "meet" just to hang out. we do that without requiring a label like a "meet" - we just get together.

Ok totally understand. Yeah when it comes to friends its a matter of a phone call to hang out.....or like I do with Josh just stop by lol. But I love meeting new people, and seeing as I am into the car scene I enjoy starting meets with my friends to get to know more people. Gets a bigger range of people together as well.

Oh, I know this is off topic, but are you doing the MS walk on April 1st?

Re: Columbia meets.... ready to start again?

Id be down for that, as soon as my car is done. Trying to find some way to fix my manifold because it wont fit, the wastegate hits the valvecover. So if somebody knows anyone (hint, hint, Josh.) who could fix it. let me know.

And as far as acting like an ass in the parking lot, i dont do it, but dont shun the people that do, its the same deal as street racing, if done right your not hurting anyone. If someone flys in where the people are doing donuts, then yeah id have a problem with it, but at a save distance or whatever, who cares. Besides, if its late enough, there shouldnt be anyone around to complain where they are having the meets.

I like mountain biking, just don't know anywhere around here to do it at.

Car meets are ok, hanging out is ok.

I'd be up for darts and pool.

I just can't bring myself to sit in a parking lot with my car, and get hasseled by the cops for stupid stuff.
