If anyone is looking for something to do, friends of mine have shows both nights. Take a look at what's going on & check out some websites.
Friday Night
Bube's Brewery - 102 North Market Street, Mount Joy
First band is "amazing" according to a friend of mine in the 2nd band. He says they're ages 17 & 20 and put on a good show. I forget their name (they're not listed on the schedule) & don't know much more about them.
Second band is
Homeward Down. I thought they were rock, but apparently they're some sort of psudo-emo something or other. I hate emo, but liked the band & not because 2 of my friends are in it. Listen to some stuff on their site. Music is available on MySpace at
http://www.myspace.com/homewarddown
Third band also has 2 coworkers of mine in it. The band's name is
Altercana. They are remnants of Nothing But Oregano, which was an awesome band. Catchy hooks, great stage presence & very well put together. This will be my first time seeing Altercana, I expect nothing but the best from them. They've got a MySpace at
http://www.myspace.com/altercana with some music you can check out.
Also Friday Night
My one other friend's band,
Far & Fading, is playing at Manheim BIC Church, 54 N. Penryn Rd., Manheim, PA 17545
Their MySpace (with music) is
http://www.myspace.com/farandfading, or check out
http://www.farandfading.com
You can find all event info at
this MySpace link.
I haven't ever seen them, but I'm anxious to hear them.
I'll be checking them out on
Saturday.
Far & Fading is playing at
The Chameleon Club on Water Street in downtown Lancaster. The event page is
here. 8pm, 21+, $6.
Other bands playing are Greathouse, The Secrecy & Harry George.
I'll ask a dumb old-guy question: what is "psudo-emo?"

Both nights? I just looked at your age & realized that you'd only be able to go to the show at the church on Friday. Guess I should have said 21+ for the other 2 shows! A lot of Chameleon shows are all-ages, but this one isn't. Bube's is a bar, so there's always the restriction there, I believe nobody under 21 is allowed after 9pm.

They don't whine and cry like the emo crap that I've heard, but the friend that was with me said something about them sounding kind of emo, but not being thin

What I'm saying is that even though I hate emo, these guys are good & shouldn't turn any other emo haters off

I was just talking with 2 of the guys this morning and they said this is going to be a really short set for them, only 45 minutes. Altercana I believe is the spotlight of the night.
I just got a Far & Fading cd from my coworker last night, I'm going to give it a listen before the Chameleon on Saturday.
