im looking for a shop that does good work. i dont want my muffler rattling around or hitting anything as well as any holes in the cat. im looking for a resonable price around glenburnie/catonsville area. im looking for one that does compression bends b/c i dont want mendral. thankx
Marvins Muffler Works on Ritchie Hwy just past the beltway as your heading toward the city. Tell then Terry with the orenge Cav sent you and they'll hook you up on the price
Hes about the best around that I know of. Some will say Tony's off Crain Hwy is good but I've had issues with him in the past ( NOT knocking his work anyone ) but thats just my opinion.

your issues stemmed from NOT CALLING BEFOREHAND. Tony's is a busy shop because they do good work for a VERY good price. for a standard catback, give them the muffler and it costs you $150.
just because YOU didn't bother to call ahead of time(which would have been common sense), doesn't mean you have to say how you've had issues in the past. it's ONE issue, and it was YOUR fault.
ok, so i got 2 views gong either way. anyone else?
AMJ Automotive here in Stevensville, Maryland right over the bay bridge..they do good work. i had a hi-flow cat, 2.5" piping custom bent angled out and a muffler put on for 180$..and its been over 2 years since ive done it and no problems since

I put my vote in for Tony's... I've had 2 cat-back's done there for $150 + my muffler, I've also had 3 friends have good experiences there... they are busy shop and I usually do call ahead to see if they can fit me in. Although, Terry seems to give good advice so I'm sure Marvins is good also... Tony's can be a pain in the arse to find if you've never been there, though... well back off of Crain Highway behind Empire Tower
another thing about Tony's...and this is what will bring me back, no matter what vehicle i own at the time. my first corolla had the exhaust replaced by them, which made me return to get a custom exhaust on the second corolla. i had my muffler and my $150 in hand, ready to go. the guy who was going to work on the car put it on the lift, told me he didn't feel right charging me $150 to change my piping when the existing piping was full stainless(which i didn't know before hand). he installed my muffler for me, and charged me a whopping $40 to put it on the lift, check out the existing piping, and install the muffler.
if THAT isn't good customer service, then i don't know what is. just make sure you call ahead(like common sense would tell you).
That isn't my only issue with them lilbit but I don't like to say anything bad about him as he is a nice guy and his ex wife Linda is a sweetheart. My issues go back over ten years not just recently. But like I said he has a good rep and I'm not gonna bad mouth him over a few issues I've had.
Marvin and his dad have been building custom exhausts since the 60's.
But they both are good shops so take your pick.

if you supposedly know them, then why did you have to ask where the shop was located, etc when you asked for exhaust advice awhile ago?
????? I know right where Tony's is. Have for years. I don't remember saying I didn't unless I was thinking that you maybe knew another shop. But I can't remember ever asking for a good shop as I know where one is.
When I went to get 3 inch exhaust put on my Fire Bird I had an appointment at Tony's. I showed up with my cats and mufflers he put the car on the lift and I told him I wanted 3 inch from the headers back. Tony himself was going to do the job but when I said 3 inch the whole way he told me its impossible to run 3 inch pipes over the axle. When I told him I had seen it done before he replyed to me not from my shop as I can not do it. He let my car down and I left. I called Marvin's Muffler and he put the 3 inch pipes on that same afternoon. When I lowered my Fire Bird I again went to Tony to have him hook up the new Headman shorty headers to the existing exhaust Tony at this point no longer did the work himself due to his recent tripple by pass surgury after his big heart attack that almost killed him. the guy he had running the place said that he could not do it cause there was not enough room that he could do it in 2 inch but never 3. Again I went back to Marvin and again that afternoon what I wanted done was done.
Tony is a hell of a nice guy please do not get me wrong. I like him personaly and his ex Linda very much. This is the reason I do not like haveing to explain my issues with him
as I do not like showing someone whom I likes flaws or possibly costing him any business. But all I know is when Tony said he couldn't do it I would call Marvin and he'd tell me no problem. He is a nice guy but like I said I have issues with his shop.

Tonys is the best exhaust shop around. Best bang for the buck. I've had three seperate cars there and have spent maybe 200 bucks all together...
Tonys is awesome and I'll always use them

lol this thread is funny. Everyone has their own opinion about shops with their own experience. Some people have good, others bad. It's also about where you know people alot of time.
Im not sure if your close to Rockville, but I know Midas in Rockville off the Pike near MC thats good. I know alot of people that use them. Just tell them that you were sent by Car Trenz before they closed and they will hook ya up. They did my old car and alot of my friends and people I know too! Not bad price and take their time with their work to ensure its good. Never heard a complaint!
Terry, I just got the email saying it was shipped this afternoon. I'll give you a call when I get an idea when it will show up from Fed Ex's website. Thanx.

Tim, I live off of edwin raynor blvd in chesterfield.....PM me if you wanna meet up..

Yeah, that'd be cool, Ryan... we might be doing it tomorrow if Fed Ex can get their butts to my house early enough...
Where is Tony's? Does anyone know of any good shops in the Silver Spring/Rockville/Wheaton area?
Look above. I know of a few in the Germantown area, depends if your willing to travel out there.
Frederick Motorsports was reccomended to me by a few people on NASIOC.

Has anyone heard of Rayco Auto? or Obsession Motorsports? Would anyone recommend just going to Meinke?
