I have a friend flying in on Wednesday, their flight gets in around 5:32pm at BWI.
How's traffic around that time on a Wednesday, and what time about do you think I should leave to get there.
For those of you who don't know abouts where I live, I live in PA 3 miles from the MD line... near 83.
I don't want to get there incredibly early, but I don't want to be late either.
Also, their flight leaves on Monday at 3:30pm... how's the traffic around then too?
Thanks everyone!!!
3 pm is...less busy...but 5:30 is the dead of rush hour. early is good. earlier is better. i'd say leave from MY area around 4(just to be safe) - just bring a book or a magazine.
but then again, i'm notoriously early, and i live about 45ish minutes from there. since you're 45ish minutes above me, you do the math.
Nikki, Shoot straight down 83 and then jump on 95 south and run it till 195 east to the airport. 83 that time of day everyone is heading north / out of town so it won't be so bad.
Do you know your way thru downtown Balto where 83 ends ?
Drop off would be the same route but since it's earlier it should be easier. Of course going home at that time of day is when everyone else is heading the same way so it may take a while.
Call me if you need any help and we can do a follow the leader if need be.

Well I was planning on taking 83 to 695 to 95 to 195... that's the easiest for me without getting lost.
I get lost in Baltimore easily... I know HOW to get to the airport... just don't drive down that way enough to know what traffic is going to be like that time of day.
No problem. Its actualy quicker if you can cut thru town but I don't want you to get lost.
Have fun and call if you need help.

if you can square it, take 695 PAST 95 and then take 295, it will be a left hand exit and pins you straight at the airport on 195...
get there early, meander around cause around 5, things are hectic...
if the flight leaves around 3, shoot to be there around 1-1:30 traffic should be fine...

Ok so how far past 95 is 295? Does 295 dump right onto 195, or is it an exit? About what time do you think I should leave from here to be there on time since you know where I live? And can ya come up to visit this weekend? My friend that's flyin out wants to meet ya
And thanks everyone!!!
295 is the Balto Washington parkway and since you said you don't want to cut thru the city thats why I didn't even mention it. But 295 has a left lane off ramp that dumps you onto 195 right outside the airports gates.
But you need to either cut thru town or take 695 around the opposit direction and go thru the Fort Mac tunnel.

FLIGHT DETAILS CHANGE!!!!!
Wont be getting into Baltimore until 7:03pm now... I'm guessing I should leave around 5ish to be safe?? or would 5:30 be ok? How's traffic going into Baltimore at that time??
Um, rush hour and in the rain. people around here can't drive anyway but then make the roads wet and forget it ! I'd say 5 at the latest, if you get there early and have to wait you can always get dinner or hit the bar. Hey or give me a call ! I'm like 15 minutes away from the airport we could hang out till the flight lands if your early.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
yep...5 at the latest, and have a full tank before you leave, because all you'll see is taillights till you get to the airport.
Well,
Once youre on 195 you can't help but run into the airpoart since it belts around it.

195 runs east and west couting through......
95 and 295 that run north and south, parallel.
But yeah, Baltimore drivers and rain don't mix.
And really traffic picks up after 3:30pm.
So you leave at 5.
Make sure you have gas to be sitting around.
And you'll get ot the airport at about his arrive time.
As for parking, you can go in and out of the 30 min lot, so you don't have to pay.
Just hang out, see if your friend is there, leave before time is pu, come around and repeat.
Yes that's a dirty tactic but it works.
Good luck,

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
leave a day in advance to insure safe arrival
OH yeah I forgot about the rain thing...
I remember one time it took me TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get from Catonsville (sp?) to home... I better bring my "ticked off sitting in traffic music" for the trip down.
Thanks guys and gal!!!
actually...thank you for making this post. it made me figure out when i'll have to leave work on the 25th so i can get to the airport in time.

295 is like 1 minute 12 seconds from the 95 exit at highway speeds.... i;ve timed myself from when my roomate from college came in from finland and also when kristins sister came up with baby from florida....
this weekend shouldnt be an issue, kristin is off... just let me know.
also if you leave around 5:30, meaning you should hit 695 around 6-6:30 (with the new plans) it might be a bit slow, but should let up soon there after.
but now thinking.... you;ve already done the trip....so how did it go? with the fog and crap today, it had to be a bit rough????
And did you do my 'beat a parking lot ticket' trick?

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
I got down there at roughly 5:06pm... (left at 4). So I had roughly TWO HOURS to kill... fun times. Although I didn't get to park until 5:20... cause I missed the darn parking garage exit and got lost driving around the airport in circles.
Event/Art... it would be soooooooper if you came up!!!!
Mastin... nope parking was hard to find
Thats ok I understand you didn't like me keeping you company ( snif snif ) meanie !

Tomorrow I show up at BWI @ 430 PM or so . . . . . most the time when I show up at that time I never seem to hit any traffic.... I dont know why but it seems like we skip traffic.... also could be because we go a different way? Not sure....
If your going to Laurel then yes you are going opposite of traffic.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that
nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for
which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his
own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of
being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than
himself.
