Mike, I know what will hold you up BUT you may be able to get ariund it. Check into a
STREET ROD tag. A street rod tag includes any vehicle that has been substantialy altered from the manufacturers way it was built ( AIR RIDE is deffinently way different )
I don't know all the rules so you'll need to check it out as to if theres an age limit. BUT a kid down the street from me has a 90 something FireBird and its tagged as a street rod.
This may be a way to do it.

i checked into it. your car has to be 25 years old to get those plates,no exceptions.
