So after grenading yet another transmission, I think it's time to call it quits with this car. If I ever modify another J-body, it will be automatic (don't hate, appreciate). So now everything is going back to stock. The car has a brand new GM crate 2.4 in it and I only went drag racing twice with this engine (so two bottle of juice went through) and It's absolutely perfect engine wise. I'm putting a used trans in this weekend that came out of a GAGT that only had 38K on the odo before it was rearended. So the trans is a factory GM never-been-rebuilt peice with 38K on it. I personally took the trans out of the GA, and it was an unmodified car (still even had the factory ugly a$$ hubcaps). Neddless to say, the engine and trans couldn't be in better shape for a '99 Cavailer. The car itself now has 87K miles or somewhere close to that number. New front brakes, back brakes are a year old and the car is currently being returned to stock, with the only exceptions being the H&R springs, K&N filter, the modified factory airbox, and the 2.25" cat back exhaust (with factory muffler). I will leave the cutout in place if the buyer wants it there, but otherwise I was planning on taking it out. Stock type clutch is going in with the trans so it'll have a new clutch too. The interior is still in great shape, save for a few nicks in the backseat area arm rests. The trunk is gutted and I no longer have the trunk carpeting, or spare tire. I could get those from a yard though, so if you need it, consider it done. The tires in the rear are almost a year old, and the fronts are only 2 months old since the new tires have been mounted, the factory wheels have been mounted on my wife's car (she doesn't drive often, so the fronts still have the tire "nipples" on them). It will be a very reliable car for anyone that needs it to be, as long as you don't go modding it to put out 230 whp and 290 lbs ft of torque and go drag racing with it. These crappy Izuzu trannies just can't take it. But I need a car that can take it, so this one goes, and another will take it's place (don't worry I'm not buying a Honda, lol). I'm asking $3800 for the car, and it blue books for $3980 in good condition. It would be in excellent condition except that I took into consideration the non stock springs, and the fact that there are minor paint chips out on the front bumper from your regular average everyday driving (pebble's and crap, you know). And I checked the blue book value on kbb.com and entered the milage as 87,000 miles, not the 6-7K the new motor has on it. As far as options goes, this is a fully loaded 5 speed car. You name what it could have possibly come with from factory, this car has it, including the power sunroof.
I'll also have for sale, the stainless steel OBX header and header extention (no gasket) that has been modified to actually line up with the head ports (OBX headers for some reason do not line up the #4 port out of the box). I'm asking $75 for that
Item three on the list is a machined diff for an Izuzu tranny. I was gonna use it in my car, but I've never actually had problems with the diff, just the syncro's, and a machined diff won't help me there. I'm asking $20 for that (due to installation difficulty)
All prices are negotiable, but I won't even bother dealing with lowballers. I know what this stuff is worth and I feel I'm being absolutely reasonable. I'm not in a hurry to sell any of this, so any lowballing attempts are kinda pointless anyway. If you feel you have a reasonable offer, you can post here or e-mail me.
To finish out this post, I just want you guys to know that I'm not leaving the J-body scene for good. In fact I still technically own a 2nd gen Z24, so wahtever that's worth. And I'm still gonna post here and crap, and I'll probably end up buying another J in the future anyways. But like I said earlier, it'll be an auto, unless somebody comes out with a J-body equivelent of the Shepard race trannies for DSM's.
did you ever think about trying to swap the getrag in it???
well you have went through some major issues with the trans, so i udnerstand that can be frustrating.....oh well you deffintly made some good runs with that car
yea, what about the nvg 550?

I had an NVG trans apart already. The syncro's look exactly the same as the Izuzu's. I'm not wasting my time with GM manual transaxles anymore, period. They don't last unless you shift it like grandma.
So no one's interested, eh?
Doesn't matter, I only need to sell the OBX header now. Anyone care to guess why? ..........................................................
^^ you already sold it or arent selling it?
FOR SALE: (5) '95-'99 Z24 Rims

can we have a clue?

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
obviously hes going turbo. i knew it from the get-go
Yea, I'll just have to granny shift everywhere I go to make the POS trans live under boost.
You don't shift like me either though, Phil. Remember, I'm the guy who could shift your car fast enough that the BOV didn't even make a peep.

ahem - may I remind you that I too could shift it that fast, but doing it that often caused my second tranny to go kaboom
I thought you coulda picked up on the sarcasm
