sometime next year.
I dont want to live in Maine for one, to far North. I'm thinking one of the following states, CT, NY, VT, MA, NH or RI.
I dont really have any reason for moving there except I just liked the area when I was on vacation. And I just want to move out of the midwest.
I also dont like the really big cities, like Boston, just a medium size city, with nice suburbs.
Like is this a good place to settle down and raise a family. Any comments about the general area?
thanks

central ny is nice, really a great place to raise a family, which is pretty much the only reason i'm still here, with nice small towns with larger cities not too far away. only problems i have with it are (and keep in mind, i've been in syracuse my entire life) the weather sucks...summer is too short and winter lasts forever and also, the economy is greatly suffering, especially in syracuse, so finding a "real" job is tough. but if you're looking for a good place to settle down, its perfect. look into some towns like Baldwinsville, NY and Liverpool, NY

The northeast., especially Southern New England is just too expensive. New England and California have the highest housing costs in the country, no bs you can seriously make $100,000 a year and still barely be able to afford a house. a 2 bedrooom, 2 bath apartment can easily run you $1,000 a month in rent alone, and that's for just an average apartment, not even a really nice one.
That being said it is a beautiful area, Coventry, RI is the largest town in area in the country, and is an area I wouldn't mind living, because you can get a lot of land to build a house on, and since it's in RI you're never far from anything, it's only maybe a 30 minute drive tops to the beaches, you're 20 minutes from Providence, and you're only a couple of hours drive frm both Boston and New York City if you want to go there for a day.

i love it home in Rochester NY. i go to school in Syracuse and cant stand it here. in Roch there are lots of suburbs and its an all around a nice area.
this is my sig
I live in southern NH, and we are home to the 2 out of 10 "Best Cities to Live and Work" in the US.
its expensive, but the farther north you go, the less expensive. Buy a house in a good neighborhood up in the concord area, and it will aprecciate double in 7 years.
We bought our house in Londonderry NH for 209k in 1997. Sold it in 2004 for 485,9 in less than 24hrs. The real estate market up here is incredible. If you want to make a good investment in a home, NH is the way to go.
