Rx-8: Great handling, pathetic on power
Miata MX-5: Awesome car to drive, a MIATA WITH TORQUE!!!
Was anyone else really unimpressed by the RX-8? I thought the miata was awesome, but the RX-8 I was left kind of feeling like "Is this it?"
The Rx-8 is going down on my list of will not purchase, from my list of cars to drive before my next car.

the RX8 would be unimpressive...it's nothing more than a heavier n/a RX7 - and those are ungodly sluggish.
i <3 the MX5, though.

kinda sucks to hear especially with rod millen entering his new rx8 in the D1GP...
wonder how thats gonna fly.
Once you get the RX-8 up and going at speed it can maintain the speed, that's its strength, and it's very good at that.
It's been proven as a competitive track car, and was the car to have for BS this year at the SOLO2 nationals.
The Blessed mother of acceleration is just not with it.
Now if you took the Rx-8 chasis and put an engine like you get in the 350Z into it, you'd have one hell of a car.
Supposedly in the coming years there talking about widening the rotor, to increase displacement and give it more torque.
I think their biggest mistake was not turboing the stock RX-8. The Rx-7 3rd gen had dual sequential turbos. A small one to get you up and going, and a large one once you were high in the revs.
The best way I saw it written is you get V6 power with 4cylinder displacement and V8 fuel consumption, but you don't get any bottomend torque.

while the stock 13btt in the FD was a great motor, it just didn't have the reliability people liked...
not to mention, i only know one person who owns one that HASN'T caught fire. putting two hairdryers back to back on a motor that's already known for cooling issues was a VERY BAD IDEA.

i agree i was disappointed with the RX-8, it didnt get up and go, plus they only let u do like 30 in it anyway,
i loved the mx-5, i def want one now
and for those who dont want a sports car the mazda 3 and 6 were awesome too
although i think the "tiptronic" transmissions should let you shift the whole way thru the gearbox and not just 1-2
overall it was a great day, plus some asian guy bought our passes for $10 each on our way out, lol he thought he was gonna get $2000 off a new mazda, but you can only use one, lol

def not.... but you know how people are. if the car isnt blowing minds in real life, when they see what a modded one can do, they will go to the dealer and check out a stock one....
if they are disappointed, here comes the bad reviews...
well the car has its supporters, i will say that...but it definitely doesn't compare to the RX7. i'll take my old, slow first gen over an RX8...
and you saw the condition that poor thing was in when i dropped her off.
