Tuesday, July 12, 2005 9:50 PM
Well its costing me WAY Too much money between all my loans... 270 between the car and supercharger loan.

So im selling it, 11,000 is my asking price (Montgomery County, MD) I figure someone else could buy it and be paying about 200 a month if they have good credit.

Anywho, im selling it because i finally convince my mom to let me get my dream car... Dundundun... 98+ LS1 Trans Am... and it will cost me less money!!!

Anywho, if anyone is interested let me know... I made a post in the Classifieds add.

HAHA ...not smart buying a trans am, its a little late for that dream, good luck maintaining it over winter when gas goes above 3 a gallon, think it cant happen, think again and the reality is that its never going back down below 2.25 ever again, id be holding on to that 4 cylinder with all you can

^^^^ No, he's just a realist.... I've wanted a V6 J for a year or two now, but at this point, if the car is going to be a daily driver I'd rather have a turbo 2200, so that as long as i keep my foot out of it i'm making the most out of that $2.3X/gallon premium gas... That's why I'm loving the Bug right now, if i'm not boosting, i'm getting 25-30 mpg.

Yea they do get pretty damn good gas mileage as long as you run them easy... Look at it this way, your making over 300hp and tq numbers... So you dont really ever have to go over 2,000-2,500 rpms to drive it. The engine just doesnt have to do any work.

Then you get on the highway in 6th gear at 65mph (i dont know personally but im assuming the rpms would be around 2,000 rpms) So i mean as long as i can keep my foot off the gas i dont think ill have a problem.

BTW, i paid 2.15/g premium about 3 weeks ago, not im paying like 2.45 for premium at freestate.

Either way i have to run premium, and the PCM in the J's doesnt see boost, so it is dumping extra fuel all the time with the RSM kit. My gas mileage seems to suck no matter what i do now lol. When i go to Kings dominion in my car it is a full tank of gas, half tank there and half tank back. Today in my moms car it took me a little over 1/4 tank there, and the same back, ended up using abour 3/4 tank of gas. And thats on an auto trans as compaired to my 5-speed.

Well I don't know where you guys are dreaming up this gas mileage on an LS1 Trans Am but from personal experience even being easy on the car isn't that great. You see an average of 17-18 MPG in local driving and 24-26 MPG on the highway. Basically on average I only ever saw about 19-20 MPG with the driving I have in NJ. And sure it is nice having a faster car and you won't beat on it as much as a 4 cyl but you still hit the throttle now and then and all that does is just drop your mileage that much more each time you use it.

Trust me I've been through the whole thing except I was comparing Cavalier vs Camaro and when it came down to it with gas mileage and insurance differences the Cavalier became the cheaper car for me especially since I'm seeing an average of 30-31 MPG with it. Now I don't know how much the RSM S/C affected anything with your cars gas mileage or insurance but personally I would rather stay with the four cyl if money was the true issue.

But hey on the plus side, good luck with your new buy, wish the best with it and don't get in to much trouble that 305 HP is temping .

yeah, EPA estimates don't mean crap in reality.... the Hemi Durango SUPPOSEDLY gets 25 mpg or more highway, but whenever i pull one into my shop, the trip computer has never shown better than 20 mpg... most of the time its around 18 or so... Those estimates are from running the car on a dyno at a half tank of gas and seeing how long it takes to go empty, and we all know that a dyno leaves out wind resistance, inconsistent temperatures, and little things like tire pressure and added weight like cargo or passengers....

the rsm supercharger in my 2200 gave me gas milage that was more like 150-200 to the tank...... i had 270cc injectors

insurance wise the cavalier is 2600 a year for me that is with progressive
i got a quote from gieco and they want 2750 a year for a 2000 ss camaro
so really i am not going to be saveing or losing much more... except i will have a car that is kick a$$

(btw that is full coverage with 500 dollar deductibles)

Wow that isn't much of a change really only like $10 a month more for the insurance, and you only seem to be averaging 18 MPG anyway. That sucks no offense. I know when I looked it up from All State which is the cheapest in NJ that I can find anyway my cavalier is $700 a year for full coverage with 1 mil and $250 deductible, and for me to match that on a Camaro they told me $3500. I haven't boosted my car yet so I'm not sure how much it would affect my mileage but like I said before I seem to be doing half decent at this point, oh yeah and my cavalier was only $4,200 brand new so I don't think I could even find a V6 camaro for that price.

Trust me I lived my years of paying over 4 grand a year for insurance on a cavalier. But now having no points, clean driving for 5 years, and being over 25 it all becomes very useful. Plus I only drive 9,000 miles or less a year so that is also a help.
