is there any difference in the ecotecs used in the saturns? i found an older saturn in the junkyard, the guy said its an 01 with an ecotec engine. i want to buy it but is it any different than the ecotec in my 03?. i mean for 120 bucks i can't pass up this deal

ecu is slightly different, but the engine itself should be identical... next time, try the performance, 3rd Gen, or General forums, as the NE Reginonal isn't the best place to get an answer.

ya, they are the exact same engine i believe, or at least thats what i was told. never seen one in person to tell though

nope they are identical to the ones in the 2002 LS sports the 2003+ are different slightly , fuel rail is main difference

yeah i knew about the rail difference.........cool, i just didn't want to buy it and find out that saturn changed the engine and made it suck......both the saturn and the alero at the junkyard have ecotecs with about 50k miles. i figure for 120 bucks for the engine....may as well get one, save it for winter and have a good ol time building up a nice eco project engine......then gotta find a car to put it in.........anyone else thinking go cart??
