I am in need of new rear drum brakes and I'm looking for someone to help , not really do it themselves, just make sure I'm doing it right. I'm not too bad mechanically as I used to be and I'm sure in an emergency I could do it, I'd just like to find someone that has done it before so I can be sure its done right. I'm in Harrisburg, willing to drive and I'm usually around on weekends

Matty,
If you're willing to make a trip up to RI. I've done millions of drum break jobs. They're practically clockwork for me now. I have all the tools as well.
If you're doing it. Save yourself the headaches and buy a hardware kit as well. All new springs, clips, and cables for the e-break. It'll definately be worth the extra $15 when you put on all new hardware and know that everything is top notch.
If you don't want to do the drive... LOL I'll help you over the phone.
Or i'll post you a few tips and tricks.
Tip: Jack up the entire ass end of the car and take both wheels and drums off.
The easiest way to remove the drums is to hit them with a 5 pound sledge around the middle between the wheel studs. That'll jumble the old shoes and free up any rust... as well as make it alot easier to remove the drum.
Remove the drums on BOTH sides... That way when you're working on one side. If you forget where one thing goes. You've got a refrence point by running over to the other side.
Long thin flathead screwdrivers and needle nose pliers will be your best friends for the day too.
If you need any help call my cell. IM me on AIM to get it. MattJPdotNET

I agree, atleast with my friends car it was.
How about you just "invest" in a rear disk conversion.....you know you want to
Have a good one,
Justin
I'm in pittsburgh, if you don't mind coming out here
Beat it like it owes you money

I read that, and that is a good move. My rear axle that I got out of an Explorer for the Jeep already has the rear disc brakes so I am gooooood
Be smart like Laura and get some discs in the rear Matt,
. Drums are for bands like aerosmith.

Really why are you doing them? My car has 109000 miles and mine are just starting to squeak.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that
nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for
which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his
own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of
being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than
himself.

i have 75k on the car and for the past few weeks since I got the wilwoods ive been having too much fun taking for ppl for rides topping out 3rd at 87 then seeing how fast I can back down to 40 and its taken its toll. Up until the supercharger install I had a rear disk kit but I had to trade it to get rims that would fit the brakes.
Jason I'll be in contact soon I know your close by here
