Att all Leathernecks : Evening Parade @ 8th & I

Just wanted to know if any of you knew the schedule for the Evening Parade at the 8th and I Barracks in DC.

I want to take my family next month to see the Silent Drill team but the last time I've been there was back in High school when I was in ROTC. ( go head..get your jokes outta your system)
I still make it out to Arlington every now and then.( Im still a fan of the Old Gaurd) But I cant remember when the Evening Parade is.

For anyone who just happened to stumble across this post and have no clue what Im talking about. Take a lok at the opening Scene of " A Few Good Men"

dude if you ever want, you can be in those parades, especially with the Vets from all the major wars.

my mom has been working with the mayor of DC for over 4 years now, and she actually helps coordinate and plan alot of the celebrations and parades held IN dc.

so just let me know.

heres a pic of her (in the maroon suit ) http://tiger.towson.edu/~apittm1/ma.jpg

that was a ceremony for DC's last living female from WW2 whos speaking at the podium.

hell shes always inviting me and kristin to all the galas and balls held down there by all the officials and congressmen and such. so anytime you wanna check some out, let me know.

I was in Air Force ROTC for 3 years in high school (High Point High in Beltsville to be specific). That was my back up plan, had I not gone to college my butt was going into the military and I would have started out ahead of everyone else for having the ROTC experience. More or less, no jokes here...

Art- although its called the evening Parade it's a little different. than a regular parade.

It's held in the Marine Corps 8th and I Barracks. Home of the Corps Silent Drill team and Honor Gaurd and Band..Its called 8th and I becasue well....it's on 8th and I streets in DC..LOL

What it actually is the Military Ceremony of Pass and Review. Where the commanding officer "Inspects" his/her command. However the Marine Corps has exemplified this tradition and turned it into a sheer expo of it's Bands talents, and the Silent Drill Team's command of Discipline and skill.
If you ever saw a military unit march or drill ( which Im sure you have Art,) and said to yourself "Damn those guys look sharp" The Marine Corps Drill corp multiplies TEN FOLD.

Although I dont doubt your mom has pull..the only way you can get in this parade is by going to Marine Corp Boot camp..then through like one year training and and a hell week and be the best of the friggin best.

When I was in High School ROTC we had a weapons drill team among other things. Although we were an Army ROTC Unit we tried our best to imitate the Marine's Drill team's discipline and skill as well as it's counterpart the Army's Old Gaurd.

Snoeterp:

Did you guys ever go to Aberdeen Proving Ground for Camp Vigilance? Or any of the Raider Challenges?
The day after I graduated I went to Paris Island. I mean literally the next day. I graduated on Tuesday evening. was on a plane at BWI 4:30am that Wensday.Had things went a little different I'd probably still be in the service.

Nope, we never went up there...that was a bit outta the way since my school is here in PG county

But I did participate in all of the Pass and Reviews and went to the annual dinner/ball thing at Andrews AFB...I started as an Airman and ended as an First Lt...not many girls were ahead of me by the time I stopped doing it
