the only way someone would get cited for this is if the cop decided to be an a$$ and give you a ticket for everything that is wrong with your car....i had a cop stand with me and my friends for and hour going over our cars and tellin gus what is worng with them, he said each of us would be looking at about k in fines if he was an a$$...
any way about the aftermarket mufflers, a cop has to have a meter with him and most cops dont carry them in there cars so you all dont have to worry about it....
the one thing we all have to worry about

the biggest problem I see though is emissions, rumor has it that all of PA is going to be under full emissions testing by 2006. Lucky for me right now my county just has the visual inspection as of now.
this will happen in either 2006 or 2007, which will give all of us a problem since it will be rated on the exhaust that come from a stock muffler not an aftermarket, so everone be ready to change mufflers before an inspection..
procrastination is like masturbation...its awesome till you realize that you just @!#$ yourself....

^ mufflers have nothing to do with emissions
catalytic converters, yes, but everything after that, no

nope... a cop does NOT have to have a meter with him

A new law (27150.2 VC) does not require police to use a sound meter to test for excessive noise. A citation is now based upon the officers judgment. Cited violators may have testing done at a smog referee station.
sadly, events right, cops can be pricks about it if they want. Most of the time though if your driving like a normal person and not being an ass, a cop usually won't give a @!#$. I mean, look at how many cars out there on the road, PA especially, have aftermarket or just plain louder exhaust.
There is a solution to some of this. 1 being a reg. voter and getting other reg. voters to go to our reps. about some of these laws but most people aren't one for trying to do this most would rather sit back and just bitch about it. I would like to see things changed with pa Tint laws and also for people who want to be able to lift there trucks in pa. but as for me and like other either we don't have the time or we are to lazy to do it. I'm a little bit of both. but the time will surely come when I finaly become overly fed up with it and start bitching and getting petitions going for things. :d
heh heh. I have a jackhammer in my car!!!

Damn, so I guess my exhaust is illegal, even though I don't uncap the cutout on the street. Whining lawmakers.

dont blame lawmakers,
blame the idiots who drove through streets when people were sleeping or quiet zones such as hospitals acting like that are on the track when in residential areas.
all laws are put into place cause people dont use common sense and therefore abuse their rights and privelleges.
same as rules and guidelines. its like when you get a rubbermaid container, and it says, "do not store or transport babies or small children inside with cover closed"
you know someone did that hence the reason why that specific warning is there.
i doubt as long as you dont have it open anyone would say anything. its moreso like those laws on dumblaws.com where you cant have sex in anything but missionary, or cant bring a lion to the theater on sundays...
its there, but not really reinforced, unless you actually abuse it.
Good thing the sex position thing isn't enforced, or the misses and I would be in for life.
