KGM should have a bunch of LD9s. Their favorite thing is to swap them for ecos.

Boost > N/A

180hp in 1989 or 260hp in 2008, you decide. Quad < Ecotec

Tink - hell yeah, we love swapping motors around here!

Mike - I can keep an eye out around the junkyards here too, I can usually find untouched ld9's for about $60-80

Soo any of you swapped guys still have your old ld9 in decent shape? Better to know it came from a running vehicle other than a jy hah. The thought crossed my mind of an eco swap but I seriously know nothing about those motors or the swap

Wayne (bluedriftcavy) has at least one, maybe more ld9s...that last one that was swapped out for an eco didn't crank for unknown reasons, not sure if he got around to looking further into as to why, and I know he pulled the ld9 from the vert, not sure if it was running or not. Hell, he may just have a running one sitting around though, the boy's got more parts around than a pep boys warehouse, lol!

I for one think you should Eco swap, and we can certainly help with that! I think by now we've done enough swaps to have the old motor out, new one in, and you on your way home in just a weekend end. Hell, we just did ryan's hybrid eco swap in less than 24 hours, and that was working with a few unknown variables due to the hybrid...I'm gonna say we're pretty much pros by now, lol.
If you would go the eco route, I for one will definitely give you a hand, and I'm sure more KGM guys will lend a hand as well.

Well thanks for all the info matt, where's he located or got a way to get ahold of him? Honestly I could care less about what goes iin it anymore, just whatever is simpler. And honestly having to source an eco, harness, and swap parts would be more time consuming which is something I don't have. Plus I have soo many quad goodies I could even throw on before dropping it in but just don't even want to anymore, hell I don't even wana work on it anymore to fix it

Wayne's Profile
PM him, he should respond pretty quick. He's in the outskirts of Philly. Quality guy to deal with too.

Definitely sucks to see you losing interest in the car, I've always liked you car and where it was headed..one of the cleanest J's I know. But I know the feeling too, I had about a 2 year period where I lost interest in the car, hell I didn't even drive it then, just sat in my parking lot under a cover.

This is off topic, but do you still get to crazy ray's much? I'm looking for a 00-02 front bumper with the lss/z24 lip.

All the ld9's we have ever pulled have all been DOA, or near dead. So i doubt wayne has a decent running LD9 lying around. Sorry mike. Wish i had better news.

Thanks everyone I appreciate it. Gona atleast try to still find an ld9 but time is of the essence hah. Soo jw any of the eco swaps you guys have done had any problems thus far? The more and more I think about it eco swap would be easier if I could source all the parts, right now I need to sell off some stuff cause Im pretty broke

Thanks Matt, yea it used to be my passion but just got kinda got overwhelmed and need to take a break from it for a while. Im moving in a few months and need to get going on school or something then I can have fun later on. Id still like to paint it and suspension is staying for sure, and also just got some gtz wheels which Ive wanted forever hah.

I dont go there often but I will be soon now that I need some things lol. I have that 02 lss front that I was working on and cut the grille out, and you know I have that ww lip as well If I cant find anything on a decent ld9 within the next week or soo Ithink Im gona be hitting you up to talk more about an eco swap, maybe for you guys helping me Id be willing to give up some things off the car in trade if there were things you wanted.

I don't think any of the swaps have hd any major problems....Jessy's spit out a few codes, but it just turned out to be a faulty ecu, but for the most part they go pretty smoothly.

Hmm...lss front with a ww lip...that could look pretty nice on the sedan too!

Gtz wheels should look great! If you need a good home for the z24 wheels, I got one for them!

Thanks matt for the kind words =) .hey tinks i had say in the group too .yes as matt said im better then pepboys i have more parts and accessiores lol serious i do have tons for many cars. As usual Midnights info is sketchy at best lol. all the ld9s ive pulled this year were not doa goober. Two were running(one was his it was junk n hopeless but ran now its probally a beer can somewheres) mine on the other hand had a small tap. some said rod bearing, also same sound my buddies made 2qrts low. still unknown at this time(havent dugg into) but she was driving around fine like that and its probally something stupid given these were from the guys who said i had a bad H/G when it was a lower intake coolant leak($475vs$2400)i just happen to score a full eco donor car at that time for dirt cheap so made my decision to swap or fix easy lol. now i pulled yet another ld9 from my girls car this year alone(not counting the other eco swaps i did) and hers we picked up it was claimed to have a starting issue by prior owner. we messed with it and i beleive the t-chain broke since she was cranking but not firing and then just stopped clicking. so either the starter toasted or the chain bound up inside(either are easy fix) we just went eco due to a yet another good find.i have two full ld9 swaps with auto trans one with 76k and one with 50k everything from part A-part Z. i just wanted to be a eco whore this year lol. only issues i came across is bad throttle cables(caused high idle on autos) and a bad comp trans code(since replaced). I have many a eco parts still around from comps to harness to vaious other items.and if i dont have i can get. I have comeacross most major issues for the swaps when starting with a runner and they are all on the road still running fine. and im still going for more motors(various engines) this year. You never said what issue u had with ur current ld9. if u go eco let me know i can bring my tools n my knowledge out for the weekend and get u swapped n running(given all parts aquired inadvance lol). Let me know we can talk.

i am considering building a second ld9 motor so i can swap it in when i turbo, it is either that or go eco and boost that instead. if someone can find a good eco i can give up my ld9, only has 70k on it. tranny only has 60k

Wow Wayne I would love to grab one of those ld9's off you. I actualy have basically a brand new starter on my motor. Im almost guaranteed its a spun bearing, and honestly dont wana go through the trouble of replacing the timing cover thats causing my leak, just to be able to drive the car enough verify when I can tell its just gona get worse until it goes boom. Wayne Im bout to pm you

Oh and just for everyone a big portion of this was my fault. I put no blame on my ld9, shes been soo good to me over the past few years

Soo Im thinking about getting this...http://baltimore.craigslist.org/pts/1860973421.html

Spoke with them on the phone, she said it has some frame damage which was unaware of before listing soo price would come way down. Said motor runs and car only has about 42k on it soo would be everything needed for an eco swap plus there would be other things Id want off the car and could sell. Hoping to go look at it sometime and see how bad the damage is, if fixable I may just get it and do that then strip my z24. Its also close to me

Im selling tons of stuff though guys! Need money asap cause Im pretty broke ha. Cant list on here cause the forum nazis will come after me lol, but if interested pm me..gauges,performance,suspension stuff etc etc

Soo going to look at the car next weekend, got her down to a thousand. Even if its not fixable, the motor/trans are still good and only 42k on them. Plus there are tons of other things Id want off the car soo it worth it to me. Would go look at it this weekend but the lady is leaving for vaca saturday morning.

Soo who wants to help me with an eco swap? Shouldnt be too bad having an entire car right there soo sourcing parts wont be an issue haha. Oh, and pretty much everything in my profile is for sale minus a few select parts. Also have lots for sale in classifieds, Ill give parts for help if theres anything you guys want pm me
