Has anyone seen any of the following at a local yard - G6, malibu, cobalt, HHR or G5 with a 2.4L eco (LE5)? The G6/malibu would be the most common car to find that engine. It may have been in some of the newer small SUV's like the equinox or vue, but i'm not sure. If you spot one, let me know

hmmm so we would have to look into buying a wrecked G6 from copart?
All i really want is the bottom end. LE5's go for about a grand when they pop up on ebay, and you could probably get a wrecked/totalled G6 for less than that
Any time I see any of those cars in the yards, the motors are usually long gone.
Check out ecotecforum.com .. there's always people selling ecos on there. I bought a complete L61 w/ 20,000m on there to rebuild for $300
there's a bunch by me. two of them are literally 10 miles from my work, $900 each. one is 25k miles, the other is like 12k miles
they are without the oil cooler

theres a G6 in a junkyard lot near me. not sure if its the GT with the v6 or not ill look and see if it have the 2.4 in it

try Ez-pull in New Ringgold was there a couple weeks ago and they got alot i mean alot of cars even 2000+ models. if you still didn't find one by the time i go again i'll look for yea

wow, they don't have them in the actual yard though right? they are off to the side? I was just there (the junk yard part) and I didn't see anything that new.
I doubt you're gonna find an Eco at New Ringgold...you typically don't see anything newer than 00-01 there, and that's even pushing it....most J bodys, malibus, grand ams, etc in that yard are in the 99 and lower range....don't think I ever saw a G5, G6, or HHR in there. I think maybe once in all the years I've been going there I saw one 03+ Cav and that was stripped to the shell.
Keep an eye on ebay too....I've seen a few 2.4s on there that were decently priced with reasonable shipping.
there was an hhr there just 2 weeks ago. It was down in the lowest part near the imports
me and wayne just found a 2.2 ECO in junkyard barbie down in morresivlee i know i spelled that wrong.
harrys u pull in Hazelton would prob have one.

to the op i went to the junkyard to check its the V6 one and he had no 2.4 ecos there
Harry's usually has stuff that's pre 2000...although i did see a yellow fire that was wrecked to @!#$.
You might try cress...which is owned by harry's,they just have newer stuff at a higher price.

good luck finding a 2k+ GM that hasn't been gutted at harry's in hazelton. you'd have better luck at the their allentown location than the hazelton. it's not NEARLY as picked over.

allentown sucks. nothing but 2nd gen jbody's in that place. the one in hazelton did have a few cobalts last time i went. all 2.2 ecos though

Back to the top - i've seen one on ebay since i first posted this and they wanted 650 Plus ~350 shipping.
I'm doing this swap, but getting a bottom end for a decent price (500 would be great, 700 max) is a key part of the formula lol.
I'm willing to drive to jersey, maryland, southern NY and eastern PA if need be for a decent price.
