PA sucks for tinting... 70% isn't even noticable.

anything darker than 20% will get you trouble. If you can, try to leave the front windows very light or untinted at all. I have 5% tint on the back windows and no tint on the front and I have had 5 different incidents where cops gave me @!#$ for it being too dark but they let me go with a warning when they saw I was clear on the front windows.

I have heard all sorts of different things on this, directly from cops themselves that if it's not factory tint it's illegal, it can be as dark as a troopers windows (I have seen cop cars with 5%, not that it matters though) and that it has to be 70% or more (which is the law).

Good luck.

I had 15% all the way around my Sunfire in NY and was only ticketed for tint when I was being let off of another ticket...ie, you were 15mph over, but here's a tint ticket.

I don't understand the whole 70% in the rear thing (in PA, NY and some others) as I know many SUV's are shipped with factory tint darker than this. Don't most Trailblazers have darker tint aside from the front windows?

if it comes from the factory that way, its legal. if its after market then its illegal. its stupid but thats the law.

Does anyone think if i plead not guilty, and present this information to the judge,i will get out? Tint laws

I'm confident that any judge in a traffic court is going to be familiar with the laws. Pretty sure whatever some Joe Schmoe puts on his website isn't going to change that.

i dont see how you would have a case sabio, what are you going to tell him? "it came like that from factory"?

Re: pa law on tinted windows

I was thinking along the lines of how it says that the statute nor the Regulations prohibit it. and it says "Even the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, speaking on behalf of the Secretary of Transportation, agrees that nothing in the PA STATUTE, the PA CODE, or the INSPECTION REGULATIONS prohibits tint, but that it is only . . .

"... the Department's interpretation that FMVSS 205...only allows window tinting that permits 70% or more light to transmit through the window." "

and so on. It's a long shot i was just throwing it out there.

factory glass has a tint to it already at 70%. your gonna lose matt. just take the tint off and tell the judge u removed it and usually they drop it or pay the fine and keep it on there. the fine is gonna be cheaper than retinting them anyways....

i'd be careful...I know NY has a multiple offender law where they can tow you on the spot.
