Hey all...I'm considering having a spare head I've got port and polished and having new valves installed (1mm oversized if I do get new valves, so I guess a valve job would be necessary as well). I'm in northwest Ohio a little bit southeast of Toledo...anyone suggest a shop somewhere near my area for this sort of work at a decent price (and what is a typical price as well)? I'd consider pretty much anything in the greater Toledo area as well as out as far as Sandusky or Norwalk, Fremont, Bowling Green - if someone knows a really truly outstanding shop in Columbus or Cleveland I'd even consider that but if they're just decent and I can find one just as good closer to me I'd rather deal a little bit more locally. Only places I'm at all aware of really are Pure Tuning in Toledo (and I think they'd send it out to a machine shop themselves rather than in-house...and I've heard some grumblings about them before too - i.e. super expensive and not that good) or another place in Fremont that I believe is called Gressman Powersports. I heard good things about the latter from a person I worked with like almost 2 years ago now but I'm not sure. Thanks for any suggestions or advice.
I don't know if FMT (Findlay Machine and Tool) does anything like this or not. I guess it's worth a shot to ask them.
Maybe a good idea to ask is some muscle car guys where they'd get that kinda work done. Perhaps also you should post this same question on ToledoTuners and see where they'd say to go.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
thers an amazing machine shop here if you would wanna drive to ashtabula, oh or have the head shipped. All he does is car stuff and hes been in the game for like 40 or 50 years. The place i paint for gets all of there machine work done at that place. And im sure if you needed the valves done we could do it at the shop after the machine work was done. Let me know if your interested in having me get you a price from him and what all you would want done. The machine shop guy is pretty old school so he dosent have a website but if you wanna check out the place that would be doing your valves the site is www.hptautosport.com. Dont be scared by it looking like an all honda shop either. Were doing a full ecotec build for another guy on the org right now thats doing cams, valves, springs, retainers, pistons, rods, crank and i know carl bead blasted the block and head for him im not sure if he did any head work. But they guy really knows his @!#$.
