The goal for this car was to build something not done to a J car before... And I've just really not had the desire to mess with the car. At first I thought I would but for some reason, I'd rather just get rid of it...
It does run, shift good, and all the power options work EXCEPT the power steering. It has a leak somewhere, I've not looked for it. Not that hard of a car to drive with out power steering.
2.8V6 Auto trans.
Blue interior/Blue Top
The good with the car:
Interior is pretty good. Dash is perfect, and digital gauges work. The tach works, but it works when it wants too. The floor pans are good, as are the strut and shock towers. What needs to be solid, IS solid. The top has 2 small holes in it, and it leaks very little. But good news is, I am including a car cover. It has brand new struts and shocks all around, a new starter, a new battery, and new ignition coils. The tires are in great shape and have lots of life left on them. They are Eagle GTs and mounted on 15" white factory mesh wheels. I really like these wheels. The EGR Valve has been removed, and I have made block off plates using 1/32" thick aluminum block off plates to seal off where the EGR was. Valve cover gaskets could use replaced, but for an 87 on original gasket sets, its doing pretty darn well. Rare Chin spoiler. Rear sway bar. 81K miles!
The bad:
RUST! Doors are rusted, rear 1/4's are rusted, fenders are rusted. But doors up to 94 will mount and work. But must be convertible doors. a 2nd gen front end swap can be done as long as you get the dog house, and maybe core support. Not too sure on that. That cat is clogged, but the pipe before cat has been cut open enough to let the motor breath and run. It was 'causing it to stall out before hand and the cat was glowing red. (i have pictures to prove this was the issue with the car). The vacuum lines off the tb are damaged, but do not seem to be effecting the way to car runs. They may be pulling in enough air to keep the car happy. The driver side door decided the other day that it no longer wanted to open. The exterior handle feels like nothing connected to it. I started to remove the door panel but in fear of braking a good door panel I stopped because I could not get it off.
The car has an open Ohio Title. I have not transferred it into my name. I've only driven it a few times around the block. And it shifted good, decent power still.
If you're looking for a restore project, or a sleeper project this is it. 3400 V6's are easy swaps for these cars. Get the 5spd trans with them and you've got your self a pretty quick 14 second cavalier for under $1000. Or if you're a fan of old cavaliers, this would be a good restore project with mainly exterior restoring needed. Would also make a good parts car.
Pictures:
I have cleaned the engine bay a little since this photo.
^I removed the carpets and such for the picture to show the good floors in the trunk
As you can see, I removed the spoiler but still have it, as well as the third brake light after this picture. Some jackass filled it with expandable foam instead of just replacing the light. And NO! Domo Kun is not included in sale.

Been getting lots of interest in that damn chin spoiler, and a few other odds and ends, but still rather sell the entire car than part it, and deal with shipping, and slow payers.

New pictures as of Jan. 12. 2010. I drove it for about 20 minutes straight today, aired up the tires, and stopped at a near by parking lot to get a couple few pics... Surprisingly it wasn't bad with the top down, windows up, and heat blasting
. But as you can see, the driver side is clearly worse than the passenger side.
And the chin spoiler mount is goofed up on the driver side as well. I thought I had it wedged back in the hole long enough to drive it around, but I was wrong. Just needs to be double sticky taped back up or new holes drilled.
Really runs well at cruising speed, and high way speed.
I go out and start it ever few days, and this was the first time i've really given it any more than a drive just around the block. I was overall pleased with it. Would make a great parts car!!!! or something to put a few hundred in, and make a reliable daily driver. The third option would be to put a 3400 and a 5spd in it, and make this a sleeper from hell. I think on v6z24.com its said to be a 14second car with a 3400 v6 swap stock... Which will catch some unexpected cars off guard.
end sales pitch...
...
Tell you what you drive it to me and ill give you $500 for it
