i want to know why people dis on cavs so bad and talk @!#$ about them all the time when they are actually rele nice cars...can anyone tell me how to get them to stfu??? cuz all the people i talk to seem to think cavs are pieces of crap when they rele aren't you just have to know how to drive them and how to treat them...i just dont get it

You dont no matter what they will not shut up. But then again who cares people talk down on all cars no matter what you drive there will always be someone that will hate it. Drive what you drive because you want to not because other people like it. and for god sakes it really not rele lol

People will always talk but when they do ask them what they drive and as for cavaliers go there one of the most fun cars to mod in my opinion ive modded different cars before, a 3400 camaro and a 97 grand am gt, but the past 2 have been cavaliers and they have been the most fun and get some power down when you want them too i built up a 2.2 OHV in my 97 cavalier and its faster then the camaro and the grand am and I plan on trying a 3400 swap here in the near future, there very fun cars to work with.

Fact is the cars do what they were designed to do extremely well. They're "a to b" cars, not supposed to be fancy or fast.

its easy to make them fun to drive, and with the right mods you can make them decently quick.


At the same time, how many cars do you pass or see that you think "OMG what the hell is that? Why would they drive/mod that?!?!" or "what a POS?!?"

we've all thought it, and will continue to think it, good reason or not.

however, if you have a base model with only a fart can and drive it like an a-hole, you deserve to be bashed.

I agree with Paul, Dont get discouraged if someone makes fun of your car. If you like it then thats all that matters. I get made fun of all the time for my Cav, but in the same aspect I also get the same amount of comments like "what is that?" or "Is that an Eclipse" LOL

Some guy thought my cavalier was a Integra... He asked if I had the LS motor and I told him yes... lol.. then he proceeded to tell me about a buddy of his who has a integra that was all hopped up and what not...

i used to bash cavs worse than most people out there. in fact on occasion i still do. mostly to the guys i know tho. but i used to do it bad and then guess what..... i bought one. lol. and then it started, it was a big POS but i kept doing stuff to it, mostly ripping out the zebra interior cause it made me want to puke. lol. but it grew on me and all i wanted to do is work on it and make it more and more how i liked it and then there was the cleaning portion lol. i would clean it for hours even tho it was a pos, some of the guys on here remember it as the z24 with a 2200 swap..... <----- definately not my doing! lol. but looking back i loved that car and still talk about it. lol. it was a turd but it was my turd.

my point is if the d-bags that talk sht about cavs actually bought one and drove one and took care of it, they wouldnt be saying those things.
and chances are the reason why they wont give j-bodys a chance is because they are following what someone else has said.

im on my second cav and i love driving and modding them even though im way too poor right now to do it. lol.

As much as I love my car, it's a cheap econobox, and I bought it because it was the best I could afford at the time.

Everyone talks crap, you just need to learn to take it with a grain of salt.

Odds are if you are level headed about it and don't act like your J is something it isn't, they will learn to respect you for what you have, and the hard work you put into it. As long as you aren't making it more of a POS than it already was.



Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

My good friend drives a Cavalier and our motto is, "no matter what you do to a cavalier, it's still just a cavalier." as a joke of course. People somehow confuse my stock looking cav with a Civic when they see it at shows with the doors up. Which kind of confuses me, why the hell would you go to a car show and mistake a civic for a cavalier? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Forget what anyone says about Cavaliers, you drive what you drive, and you love what you love. If you love a cavalier and love how it handles, then go right ahead and sport your stuff. Forget about what the other d0che$ have to say about it. I don't love my car, but I don't hate it either. And I know plenty of people here who dish talk other cars, you can see it in some of their signatures.

Point is: To each it's own

Don't let it bother you, just shrug it off and be happy no matter what.

Nothing is better than beating someone elses car. And getting to say the words "yeah, a Cavalier". For some reason I've found that even more fun if said person was driving a Mustang.

Well...for me i started with a sunbird...while i was building my sunbird up, when i was younger i always thought, damn i want a 3rd gen cavi....yea, i know, my dream car was a cavi lol..anyway, i got one, i loved it, although it wasent in the best shape, got a fire, then got rid of both of them and got the 98 base i have now and started modding....i still LOVE my cavi and love cavis all together... yea theyre an A to B car, but its all what you make it really.....

People bash cavis, then theyre driving a riced out honda or something...for me, its GM all the way...chevy or pontiac...I HATE HONDA lol....its like my friend with his CRX that has the slow ass HF engine with a 5 speed...he had a fart can, header back exhaust, cold air intake on it, and oh of coarse, the custom rust around the wheel well the CRX is famous for, and decided he wanted to run my cavi... yea its a 2200 SFI 5 speed, but man did it blow away that CRX lol
