GR Autorama Cancelled for 2010
Sunday, November 29, 2009 4:49 PM
So, as the title states, CASI pulled Autorama out of Grand Rapids for 2010. Kinda sucks, but I can't say I didn't see it coming. Now I think I might have to travel down to the Indy show in February (providing I can find a trailer this time lol)

No surprise there.

"Last one out of Michigan, please shut off the lights!"

This state sucks.

Spencer - Indiana State Fairgrounds Feb 12-14

sndsgood - I looked at Chicago too. It's not the paint I'm worried about with driving, it's my non-so-made-for-winter tires/suspension. I drove to GR last year; 45 miles doing about 20 mph lol I'm just going to have to plan better this year. Let me know if you do go for sure and maybe I could get a spot by yours.

tires slippery in wet/snow? i got caught in some snow leaving cincy last year was a bit hectic driving the hilly cincy roads getting to my sisters for the night, hoping for no snow this year. i'll let you know. going to work on the car this weekend as long as i dont have to work. make sure everything is a-ok after getting boosted and not driving it for the last 9 months.

Kinda looks like they are changing that up a little. There's a new tour called "Tuner Galleria" that's at a couple of the shows: Detroit, Chicago, Houston and Atlanta. I'm not sure if that's going to replace or coincide with Extreme. I just know that Indy has the Gauge Magazine Lifestyle Hall that I am going to be ALL about

i think its just there cleve way of saying the kids cars. to keep them seperated. though i guess it is a step in the right direction since about 6-7 years ago they would just come out and say they didnt want our type cars. they are starting to realise now that we are their future and with the older guys starting to fall off the map and show less they need our cars to keep things going.

im debating on where i'll setup. i always like helping support donny with gauge but i prefer being up top with the older cars. the lighting is allot better your not in the dark, its usually a bit warmer and more comfortable. and you dont get stuck next to the dj booth lol.

But with the dj booth brings the bikini contest. lol I've only been to 1 indoor show (GR Autorama 09) and am not too picky about my spot. I was in the far back row there. Lighting helps with the metal flake in my paint, and it would be nice to get on the upper floor with the "classics," but I've gotten so much disrespect from muscle car guys in the past.

It seems more to me that the people walking through the "lifestyle" section are there because they appreciate what us young guys do. Not to say that classic car guys don't appreciate what we do, but it seems like they are quicker to be more judgmental about me and my car. Though those Honda guys seem to talk a ton of crap too

yeah i have never been a fan of dim lighting at shows. it just hides so much in a car. my paint loses allot when its not lit up.i used to get put in the back more as well. but the last few years ive been put up front near the entrants doors wich is nice. you get everyone when they first come in. i never really get @!#$ from anybody with my car. i think the flames draw in the older guys. hell i usually get older people talking to me more then the younger guys. if anything it seems i hear more trash talk from younger kids because theres not a honda badge on the hood. but even that is pretty rare.

i am liking the indoor shows more and more, there just so much more expensive then the outdoor shows. but you get allot more spectators. we are usually there for most of the weekend so its nicer to have a quiet spot to sleep. i dont mind loud music, but after about 6-7 hours of it it starts getting old. esp when it always seems you wind up hearing the same song played over and over and over.
