FS: Z24 Supercharged
Thursday, June 11, 2009 5:05 PM
Basics:
Asking $4200

'00 Z24 Coupe 5-speed w/ GMPP M45 blower
105,xxx Miles
Uses 0 oil
Runs like a scalded dog (reliable too, it's currently driving 100 miles per day -- part of the reason I need a house down payment, 50 miles each way to work SUCKS)
29mpg interstate

Options:
A/C
Cruise
Sunroof
Z24 fog lights

Extras:
Brand spankin' new windshield (stupid rock chips)
58 mm throttle body (courtesy of DarkFox on quad4forums)
Stainless OBX Header
Full 2.5" exhaust (including 2.5" in/out high-flow cat)
Rear disk neon conversion
17" 5zigen wheels w/ KDW's (pictured)
15" steelies w/ Blizzaks (not pictured)
Poly engine mounts
Ebay short shifter
MOMO aluminum brake/clutch pedal covers
Pioneer Premier head unit
Crossovers for door flush mount tweeters
De-badged
Wingless
Carbon fiber decorative strip on the rear

Issues:
Theft light stuck on (I broke my old ignition tumbler, bought a used one off of here and it's chip is broken, still haven't ponied up the $250 for a new stealership part, a boneyard dive might get you one cheaper if you can find it), but has otherwise caused no issues.
Other than that, it's got the typical wear and tear on a 100k+ mile car.

Reason for selling Mr. Pute's old car:
Need a down payment for a house (of which I will get most of this back when my current house sells, but gotta have cash in the interim).

Before you tell me that the number is high, come over and drive it. If you still think I'm asking too much, make me an offer and we'll talk

Definitely gonna miss it, but even a good cavalier gets old after you're in it for 2+ hours a day EVERY day.

Lots of pictures:

good luck with the sale... question, how'd you relocate the battery??? did you have to reweld the battery tray?

I didn't do it, but yes it involved re-welding the battery tray. Doesn't look like it was all that bad to do either.

i thought andy(pute) traded his car in a dealer... and he also sold the supercharger off his car before he traded it

He traded it to me for my old Camaro, and I put a blower back on

He's right. We traded cars straight up. Don't know how you thought I traded it to a dealer.

You should also point out that the stock suspension is off of a 2004 Cavy. If I remember correctly and then compensate for the 10k miles you've put on the car, the suspension only has around 30k on it at this point. The rear trunk lid is also off of a base 2004 Cavy (different one than where the suspension came from). Therefore, there were never any holes where the stock wing gets mounted.

The battery tray was a bitch. The stock spot welds are a pain in the ass to drill out. Welding the tray into the new position was the easy part.

How the hell did you bust the tumbler? Be glad I turned off VATS when I had HPTuners for the car. Otherwise, it wouldn't of started for you

Here's the car when it's clean:

mmmmmmmmmmm. I'm tempting myself...

Accidentally stuck the wrong key (too my shed -- they are very similar when you go by feel) in and it killed one of the pins (that was a FUN job getting out lemme tell ya).

VATS must be in the BCM then, because the ECM is out of my old red cavalier. I don't have access to HPT to get as nice of a tune as Mr. Pute had, but it does run quite well.

Feel free to buy it back from me if you want

I really would rather not sell it, but gotta have the money.

just curious about a few things here.....

1. why didnt the front bumper have fogs in many pics? has that bumper been replaced?
2. why are there no lips on front or rear?
3. why is the rear a stock base model bumper?
4. why was trunk/decklid replaced?
5. did suspension need replaced? or was it just a good deal or something?
6. does AC work / blow cold?
7. when was the SC installed and by who? how many miles on it? does it make any noises? stock size pulley?
8. does the sunroof leak? factory or aftermarket? works fine?
9. why was the ecu swapped out?

how is everything on the car? tires? brakes? etc?
what might it need in the near future?
does everything work as it should? power windows? power locks? remote entry? parking brake? trunk release?

Not sure, it had fogs when I got it, I think Mr Pute had aftermarket fogs on it for a while. I fixed the wiring on them, so they do work.

ken soggs wrote:2. why are there no lips on front or rear?

Got it that way -- probably shaved by Mr. Pute for looks

ken soggs wrote:3. why is the rear a stock base model bumper?

There's a difference? I didn't notice, and it came to me that way.

ken soggs wrote:4. why was trunk/decklid replaced?

Mr. Pute wanted a wingless one

ken soggs wrote:5. did suspension need replaced? or was it just a good deal or something?

Mr Pute parted out an aftermarket suspension before I bought it, so stuck a newer stocker under it so it could driv e

ken soggs wrote:6. does AC work / blow cold?

Will freeze you out

ken soggs wrote:7. when was the SC installed and by who? how many miles on it? does it make any noises? stock size pulley?

S/C installed Februaryish, stock pully, probably has 40k miles (it's from my old red car), and only makes pretty roots-blowery whiney noises (it makes no noises that it shouldn't make)

ken soggs wrote:8. does the sunroof leak? factory or aftermarket? works fine?

Factory sunroof, no leaks, works perfect.

ken soggs wrote:9. why was the ecu swapped out?

ECM that came with it was not tuned for the blower, the one swapped in was (from my old red car again)

ken soggs wrote:10. how is everything on the car? tires? brakes? etc?

Front tires are probably 50%, rears are more 25-30%
Front brake pads are new, rotors were not warped so I didn't replace them. Pedal is high and hard.
Stops RIGHT NOW when you ask it to.
Rear brake pads look brand new.
Still needs one side's parking brake shoes replaced (they're just missing -- I forget why, but the park brake holds the car on any incline I've had it on with just the one side -- just haven't gotten around to it yet).

ken soggs wrote:what might it need in the near future?

Lowered suspension if you want it I guess. A nicer tune to get rid of the crappy GM spark advance map if you would like.

ken soggs wrote:

Yes.

ken soggs wrote:power windows?

Check
ken soggs wrote:power locks?

Check
ken soggs wrote:remote entry?

Capable but I have no clickers
ken soggs wrote:parking brake?

like a rock
ken soggs wrote:trunk release?

No '00+ J I've seen has one, so check?

Feel free to come by for a test drive.

The fogs were yanked when I installed the remote turbo system. The intercooler piping was in the way of them.

Year 2000 and 2001 Z24s did not have front/rear lips. Only 2002 Z24 and LS Sport.

There's no difference in the rear end on 2000-2002 models.

The stock suspension was thrown out when I put Tein basics on the car. Those were then sold off and the 04 suspension was purchased for the car.

Not that it matters now, but the ecu actually did have the 2 bar map s/c tune on it (and the car had a 2 bar map sensor installed when given to you), but the injector constant was reduced to allow for the stock injectors to work with the car after being demodded.

True, but the injector constant being off is what I was talking about, I guess I should have been more clear. Since I don't own HPT, I was not able to put that back, and since my old ECM was available (with my old s/c) I put that in so that the car would not lean out.
