in ohio i believe it has to have the red reflector in it, or basically the law states that you can not alter the taillights to be diffrent then what came from the factory, its pretty broad and easy to nab people on it if they really want to.

On my cousin's Mustang he has clear tails with red bulbs and no reflectors of any sort. Hasn't ever been stopped.

I can't believe that they'd let a Mustang with a V8 and loud exhaust off on a minor violation like tail lights and not a 4cylinder car. LOL

Safe side

Ohio requires a red bulb and red reflector. Turn signals can be amber or red on the rear. The housing can be any color. You can mod it if you want to, no law for that. Make sure that the light is bright enough for the day and people can see it clearly or they will have a problem. I had a cop try to hassle me in a parking lot about 10years ago when the clears were coming out with the red reflectors. The cop pulled up to the spot and said he was going to nail us when we get out on the street because he didn't like us sitting in a private lot. I told him he could pull us over w/o probable cause. He said "Oh yea...which car is yours?" I pointed to my s-15 at the time slammed with a phantom front and the clears with red reflectors and LED. He shined his light into the housing and said I didn't have red bulbs. I said actually I have red LEDS which are a brighter red then most. Then I turned them on. Then he said my red reflector wasn't reflecting enough. He said if I pull out on the street he was going to get me. I pulled out a 1/2 hour later and cruised by. Police are often told to intimidate you as a motorist. Know your right and have faith that there are good cops out there also.

Quote: no ofence man but if you have so much experience in all that why does your car look like crap?

Youd be surprised.

My car gets a stereo ticket.

Friends Camaro gets 6 warnings.

With the same cop.
