How much do these usually cost?
I am think about getting one and doing new rods and pistons and probably the 068 swap and the cams. I am trying to price it all out a few months a head so I can do it all at once.
O yeah, sorry. 086 not 068.
Normally from a yard 300-500.
From the org 250-500 seems normal.

Well I see the post for the sunfire for 500 with the engine and tranny but its to far for me to go. I think it was around 5 or 6 hours. If my tranny is as bad as I think it might be worth it because he said that the engine/transmission is fine.
I will look into it more when I have more money saved up but I was just getting an idea.
I want to get something that is actually fast not like my car now.
I think the biggest upgrade I have now is your pulley. Which by the way seems to have helped out a lot.
Well before you do something dumb I thought I might tell you that you need a 2000+ 2.4 block not just a 2.4 block. So you can expect the cost of the block alone to be around 4-600 for just the block. Cause most yards/people know what those go for and also will not spilt them up.
I was wonder if I need a 2000 or new. That was actually going to be my next question because my car is an 01. This looks like it is going to cost quite a bit.
I don't know if I should just tear into my engine which only has 34000 on it or not. That or I could sell it after the build.
I need to get some advise on where to start really.
why can he not use a 98-96 block. The knock sensor is the only problem, and that is fixed with either an adapter or a drill and tap.
If possible though the 99-02 blocks seem to hold up better and have a re-designed head.

The head may not matter. I don't know if I am doing the head swap or not. I either want to go with a super charger, NA, or Nitrous or possible supercharger with nitrous. I will have to ask more questions when I get closer to the built.
Will the M45 bolt up to the 086? I don't see why it wouldn't but I should check first.
M45 will not bolt to the 086 head.

I was wondering about that. I didn't think it would. So the question is, nitrous with the head or supercharge it (with nitrous). Turbo isnt something I want to do though.
Would 10:1 with the head be to much for nitrous. The head adds roughly 2 points of compression correct.
I thought if you used stock compression pistons, and the 086 head you were at 11:1 or something. I really am only going off memory on the 086 head, since I really never looked into it much.
