Ok, well the decision has been made.... Cleveland will now be the home of the first (that i have heard of) Twin Charged J-body in the USA (or at least here on JBO). (there is a sunfire up in canada as well but this is a cavalier in the USA)
Yeah, I have finally gone and lost my mind... but the 8.5:1 pistons, and eagle rods are on their way. I pick up my block this week.
I am still researching the turbo components, but think i have found the manifold, at least...
if any of you are good with turbos. i would love to hear from you in getting this setup.
(i need to pick out a good turbo capable of making good power in the 4000-7000 rpm range, spooling and lag arent so important do to the help of the supercharger)
I have my TG LSD installed and ready to put back in.
all my poly bushings are in, and ready to put back on the car.
I am getting a custom block from mantaparts, already bored and honed for their custom 8.5:1 pistons, and the balance shafts removed and 2.3L quad4 oil pump conversion made, and oil system ported for better flow.
this was once just my normal driver car.... and as always i start tinkering and end up with some crazy over the top thing... but oh well it is fun.
So anyone in the area... if any of you have any interest in helping out either physically, or with planning or advise, or if you have any parts that might help her out, please dont hesitate to offer.
If there is anything i can offer in return i will be glad to consider it.
The dark Z and i both thank you all in advance.
ken call me on the weekend, i may have a prezent for yous

dang, dem sure is perrdy aint they?
ok well figured i would throw this up here and ask for opinions.....
this is the test fit of my new body parts....
How do you think all that goes together?
I think i like it... only thing that really bothers me is the top ot the sccop is completely flat... nothing else on the car is flat like that....
otherwise i think it all works together pretty well. obviously it needs a lil touch up and some paint...
I think your front end has enough flat pieces on it, that the flat hood scoop matches well with the rest.
Looking good.
Well, It is for certain now.... The turbo is sitting in my garage, so TwinCharging is a definate.
The engine is quickly coming together.... and soon the Z will be back on the road again.... (just going thru final assembly, and waiting on my quad4 oil pump conversion oil pan)
I have to say you get what you pay for with most things... for instance..... my F1 fenders i got a hell of a deal on.... I was amazed how cheap they were for something that looked so cool. but yeah... they suck @$$. i think whoever made them didnt even know what a cavalier was. the pasenger side one didnt even fit on the car without some major trimming, and there are huge gaps between the door and the fender.... the driver side didnt need trimmed, but it is sooo far out of line with the door that i cant even open my drivers door now... fortunately i am resourceful, and think i can fix it and make them work.... but come on... these were a joke. i would have had better luck bolting up pickup truck fenders to my cavalier.
I will post up some pics here very soon. things have been going slow... but going... for once in my life i decided to take my time and do things right... so often i just rushed thru things and cut corners to get the job done..... and it always came back to bite me in the @$$.
so hopefully she will be running again... and i will get to enjoy her for at least a month of summer.
Thats why I hate fiberglass.....sorry to hear they fit like crap, they dont look bad at all in the pic above.
I think those fenders look lots better on your setup than they would have on mine.
yeah.... it was funky... the 2 sides were not even the same....
i will get some pics of how far off they are... it is very odd...
i love the way they look.... but man just like nothing fit. i had to redrill most of the holes. i am going to have to use spacers and such on the bottom to give me enough play in the fenders to push them out so they match the body... and let me open my driver door.
and i notice that on the website they talk about how functional they are.... and how they will help to keep your engine cool... um.. i am sorry... but last time i checked my engine wasnt in my wheel well... and i am pretty certain that the section that is "vented" by the fender there is pretty well sealed up by the plastic inner wells... but i am sure that inner well will stay nice and cool now!
marketing people crack me up sometime.
oh, and what is with the fiberglass repair hack job? Someone cracked one of the fenders on the bottom and slapped some fiberglass on the OUTSIDE of the fender to fix it... and then just left it there... i would hope that didnt come from the factory like that..... cuz if it did.... wow.. talk about quality control... "hey bob, look, this one is cracked, should we scrap it?" "hell no, that is nothing, just fix it and box it up" "but im about to go on lunch... do i have to patch it now?" "nah, give it to Ned the janitor... he looks bored, he can fix it"
I am hoping you bought these from someone else.... and they cracked it, and thought that was how to patch it... (but yeah.. you fiberglass from the inside for strength.... and then filler prime/bondo the outside for appearance...)
well shimming and trimming fiberglass fenders is not news to me to make them fit properly. I did notice 1 had a bracket, looked like it was 95-99, and the other one did not.
I bought them off another orger, for about double what you got them for, and never touched them. I decided they would not match the rest of my pieces.
I didnt even see the patch job.
At least if its on the bottom, your sides should cover it lol.
Yeah, unless you cut out a lot of material....they wont keep the engine cool. You might be able to rig some type of brake coolign with them, thats about it. I saw that on thier site too, and laughed.
Ken you coming to the bash?

Chuck (Chesterton) wrote:Ken you coming to the bash?
I would love to... but at this rate it would have to be a nike bash... as i would have to come in my sneakers...
when is it? if my car is running by then i would LOVE to come... but it is looking doubtful. isnt the bash in a week or 2?
next friday it starts, and when most of us are heading down

um... yeah... that probably wont happen...
I may still be able to go... but will just have to be a spectator... as my cavy will likely still be in my garage...
if you can you should come down, it'll be a good time. We got dinner reserved at quaker steak and lube and lots of beer!
---
wow! im lost for words on that lol
Looks sweet man,..You may need to clock that turbo facing down, or up.. I doubt that will clear with it facing straight back.. Good luck man... Btw, you should at least ride with somebody to the bash.. You wont regret it.
