i nedd one of these...
![](http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/italianscorpio75/timingoops.jpg)
but preferable not busted in two like mine....
i realized that taking out ALL the bolts before prying the sucker off is abetter way to do it...

(for anyone removing this cover in the future.... be sure you take off the idler shoe... cuz, um yeah... that lil flimsy looking post that holds it on is part of a huge ass bolt hidden behind the shoe....)
I took of everything else, double tripple and quadruple checked everything... still wasnt coming loose... figured "damn it somoene probably went crazy with gastet sealant, and i will just need to break the suction..."
well i broke it alright... but not the suction... i busted the thing clean in 2.
so um... anyone.... HELP ME!!!!
(yeah and see this is why i wanted people to help me, or at least hang out...

i am sure someone else would have thought "hey dude why dont you try taking that off too before you pry it"... but my novice ass just got fed up after 45 min of looking for missed bolts, and reading and re-reading the Haynes manual...)
that sucks i'm sure someone has one i just scraped 3 of those a week ago. sorry
just pop by your local yard, less time/hassle
hahaah, sucks..now you see why it would have been easier if i dropped by..couple of hours it would have been off..but your learn when you do it all yourself

Yea and hope they have a pulled engine... Doing that in a car sucks...

Your a fine on to speak. Was in your pants before dinner on the first date.
Okay that was wrong.
ok well i called all the "local yards"
the only things they have are....
1. Just the timing housing, pulled and handed over the counter for $45
2. whole 2.3L engine for parts (didnt run well)... $75 (dont think the 2.3 cover is the same)
3. whole 2.4L engine for parts (also not running well) $200 pulled.
4. whole 2.4L engine, good running from 01 grand am, 82k $1000
dealer wants $170 and a day to order it... (says it fits all 2.4 from 96-02)
ok the guy at the yard that has the housing alone for sale... he says that his system shows that there are 2 types of housing... one is steel and the other is aluminum... Mine is aluminum... but does anyone know if the steel one will work too? or is it different? he is checking to see which he has.
if its aluminum i am all over it.... if it is steel.... i will need to know if i can use it... and then decide if i want all that extra weight. that is alot of aluminum... it would be a ton if it was steel.
steel is the outer cover silly

i know that..... but he claims there is also a steel "housing" or so he says.
i believe he claims wrong bet the dealer didn't ask or claim that. best to go there and point at it and say. "that is what i want/need. now hurry up and get it off there." lol gl.
The steel part is the cover.
Ebay has one for 20 plus shipping.
