I was at school today and this kid says I'm a dumbass for liking cavaliers. He says there slow as hell and arent worth messing with. I told him stock for stock that they should run with a lot of other four cylinders like hondas.
He says it might but his mom's car will kill it. He says it is a Hyondi tiberon. (spelling is completely off sorry)
Its a 2000 5 speed, supposedly 190 HP. Seems to think it will beat a Skyline. He is stupid as hell but acts like he knows what he is talking about. I have many examples.
So a 2001 Z24 with just a short ram Vs. a 2000 Tibby with a 5 speed.
I know my auto will probably keep me from the win, but suppose it was a 5 speed and I could shift should It beat his car?

Autos are actually faster in the 1/4 mile they say. If the Tiberon is a v6 they are not to bad just depends on driver I think your car should be a good run for him..but wait till the track opens up don't do it on the street man we don't need anymore kids getting hurt or killed out there.

Are they around the same weight? Last week he claimed it was 190 hp @ 2000 pounds exactly.

the 4cyl Tiberons are DOGS. Nothing really all that special. That, and he is trying to race his MOMS (cant stress that enough) car. What does he drive? The only way it would be worth finding out is at a track of some sort though, but you already said that there arent any around.

If you only heard his stories...... I cant stress that enough. He doesn't have a car. 3 weeks ago he was going to get a prelude. Before that he wanted to get a supra with a 460 in it. Then he was going to put a 460 in a el camino that he supposedly has. Last week it was a civic he saw that was 5k and he said if he got a job his uncle would co sign on it. Now he wants to put a 3 cylinder Mercedes diesel in the el camino. Not sure if there is such a thing but haven't looked it up.
He is always talking about her old SHO and how it would do 130, then it always caught on fire under the hood.(he says this like its a cool thing for the car to catch fire)
Basically he is a dumbass. If he thinks a civic gets 75 off a coldair and a chip can get you 70 then yeah he is just proving he is. He isnt the one that said a chip can get you 70 but he agreed. I tried explaining that just because it claims to change air/fuel doesn't mean it makes more power, there isn't increased air flow.no more air flow.

wiki says base weight of around 2550 lbs. So it is maybe a little lighter then your car. according to wiki, the 2.0 would be a very good match for your car. If you can launch it good, you should take him.
Am I correct in thinking that a cavalier/sunfire is a decent match for most 4 cylinders such as a civic, prelude, integra, talon/eclipse(420A)
None of my friends seem to have any respect for it except my friend with a talon. Seems like my friend with the mustang would to after I had 5 lengths on him. (still says its just a cavalier) My friend with a Bonneville is all about civics and thinks my car sucks.

a V6 Tib vs a 2.4L LD9 sunfire would loose 95%(there evenly matched) of the time. the reason has to do be with the manual gear. Dumb new drivers or those havent really have any expereince dont know how to properly shift a car. i have come across many v6 Tib that couldnt take me stock vs stock, i thought that was pretty funny. Anyway hes a kid, he cant afford any real power into cars. btw skyline? did you know skylines can only be imported buddy give me a break lol. I got a 1986 Grand Prix with a bored 305 in it, that would most likely eat up anything in your school parking lot. Any car can be made fast. I enjoy working on j-bodys, people laugh but after i blow there doors off they stop and look down in shame. you know that look of shame

My bf always makes fun of me because I decided to buy a 2nd sunfire and supercharge it...but whats sad is he can't even beat me with his mustang gt...everyone talks trash about cavaliers and sunfires because their jealous that they don't have a cute car that gets good gas mileage and can be made fast (well you guys probably don't care that your cars cute haha)
