help/advice about my cav

I am putting this in the regional forum because i was kind of hoping for advice from someone local or someone local to check out my cav.

I have a 99 cav rs, 58,xxx miles but i have never driven it very far and was hoping to drive on a trip over 150miles on the freeway, my car has been on the freeway of course but never for that long, my real question is will it make it? i don't trust the car really...it has some issues: check engine light on (i know its the o2 sensor), exhaust leak, it has certain creaks and noises and my dash dims from time to time(some sort of short?) and the person who did all the work i do not trust anymore and i do not want to take it to a mechanic for just a tune up because they would try to make me fix all that stuff so i wanted someone with the knowledge of a cav that can overlook the little things.

It has good point though, new tires not even 1000 miles ago, oil change 1 month ago and i try to keep up everything else.

It may be a dumb question but i am just not sure if i should take it on the trip, my profile is pretty up to date with all my mods.
if anyones local and would wanna check it out for me for like $30 or so let me know, im in southeast, mi

thanks for any advice!!!

It sounds like it should still be a solid vehicle. Ive got an idea! Come to the next JBOM meeting and some of us can check it out. We always have a good time. Check the JBOM forum for updates on our meeting location.

if it only has 55k on it I don't see how it could NOT be reliable. check engine lights, and exhaust leaks will RARELY stop you from going somewhere. now if the check engine light starts flashing...its time to pay some SERIOUS attention to it.

JBOM guys are ALL great guys, and will give you good advice, and maybe a couple wrench turns too, I don't know anyone in that club that I wouldn't trust to work on my car, and I'm REALLY stingy...never EVER allow a "mechanic" to work on it.

i have to agree... (im not gonna mention what happened to me at 55k because that was the dealers fault, not the car) 55k isnt nothing...

the only thing a bad 02 sensor is gonna do is decrease your gas milage...

and DTP is right... as long as it MIL (check engine light) doesnt flash, you should be good... if it flashes, take a note of you RPMs and/or Engine speed, go to a shop that has a decent scan tool (Snapon Motis is my personal fav) and have them look up the freeze frame info, that will tell you what sensor is out (or which cyls misfired), and at what RPM and engine speed you were driving so you can match it up if any physical symptoms occured...

Creeks and noises are pretty usual with J-bodies...

^^ Most likely paranoia.. i was the same way with my old 96 Z back in spring of 06.. didnt wanna drive it 2 hrs south.. ended up making it there and back fine and then wasnt worried and drove it all over. drove the 3hrs to chicago and back, 5hr to kalamazoo and back, and 2hr trips many times. after once or twice it really changes how u feel about it.
