Vehicle Trading in KY

Anyone ever done this?

I am trading my car for a truck for a even deal. Never full traded a vechile before, so what do I need to do?

I know have title out of my name....
Affidavit needed?
and being as were about 1 hour away from each other, do I need to go to his courthouse, then him to mine to finialize anything?

How worried are you about this guy running off?

You should do it down at the dmv and both of you should be down there. The dmv will tell you what to put down for sale price which might be 0 because no cash has exchanged hands.

Yeah go to the dmv. Don't even give the guy the title. Just meet him at the dmv and get it all switched there.

I did something like this a few years ago and I think I just had to pay the registration and title fee, but I'm in Ohio.

You live in ky and they base their plates on blue book or whatever so I'm not sure about that....

yeah, im a little sketchy about it all, but we'll see what happens. Tittle will stay with me not signed over until finial agreements are figured out.

I have to go to the courthouse tomorrow anyways, to renew the tags (just in case) so I'll ask then.
