David, LOL I typed a bunch of stuff then thought more about it and realized that yes the IAT could possibly be your colprite,
It's sending a signal to the computer telling it what the ambient air is like (hot/cold) and how to adjust the fuel to optimize fuel economy, But it is confused because the IAT is not recognizable and the computer is just throwing random fuel at the car casueing it to idle like shiznit.
So put the new IAT in and reset the computer then see what that does

btw, my IAT sensor is in, its just not plugged into an intake ya know..
