i'm thinking of making my exhaust come out the sides and wondering if anyone knows if it legal?

why would they be illegal? you see trucks and classic cars running all over the place with side pipes, and the Viper comes stock with them. only real issue in Ohio about exhausts are noise and existance. In other words, if it's loud, then you dont have one and you can get into trouble. If you live in E-check land, remember, it still has to be environmentally friendly.

yea unfortunately I do live in e-check land lol. I dunno I was talking about it with my dad and he said he wasn't sure. but I told him tons of car show people have side exhaust

In most places the exhaust has to exit after any openings into the cab. the viper and many others get away with it because the trunk is seperated from the interior. trucks get away with it because they can exit past the passanger compartment completly. best way to find out and check whats involved in a state inspection.

Almost all states require this. If your side exhaust extends past the body of the car, it's good. It's can't release gas below the vehicle. You will also still need a muffler in there somewhere, although you could fit on in right behind the CC.
