Feeler: Letting rear bumper go
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 9:58 AM
So I am going for a more 'stockish' looking car next year. I want to get rid of my fiberglass rear bumper. It is a Soundspeed type 2 that has been modified. I cut the two fins off underneath and made the bumper smooth and painted black.

Now, i would like to get rid of this bumper for about 200.00. OR trade for a base 2000+ cavalier rear bumper and some cash, OR trade with an 03+ LSsport rear . With this bumper you get the metal bracket that does away with the 'wave' under the trunk lid. Lemme know, thanks.

Pics.

X2, that's the best looking bumper I've seen on a cavy.

You guys think I should keep it? Not sure, its just not 'clean' enough to match the rest of the car I guess. I guess I could fiberglass the vents on the sides to clean it up????

I think the vents look fine with the black mesh in them, it matches the rest of the black on the car, especially with the black wheels so close. The only thing I could see being un-"clean" are the sharp angles at the bottom of the bumper (shown in pic), if it was more smoothed straight across it'd look totally different. Just my 2cents.

I would go with the 03' LSS rear.

LSS ATW.
I agree with Dave. If you keep it completely shave the vent and the vent hump/scoops off. Maybe have someone PS it.

Stephen, that was my first choice, cant find a used one tho.

Richard, i agree with the sharp edges, they need to go.

Vince, CF, not a bad idea.

Jordan, thanks for the PS, gives me an idea.

Jr, thats my first choice.

Thanks guys, i guess at least i have a long winter to decide, in the mean time I will be on the lookout for the LSS rear.

i like that bumper. and i think youlle find if you shave the vents the sides of the bumper are just going to look really big and bland and look worse. i like the idea of a carbon diffusor. but then yoru kinda adding to the wild factor when your wanting to go the other way. i say keep it. you don't see it very often at all and looks good and the bottom edge of the bumper goes with the side skirts.

I gave him a lead.. I don't care for that bumper as is. With the sides shaved and a cf piece in the middle it would be ok but as stated above not the clean look he was going for. I say 03-05 lss gmx or if

Jason I agree now that you mention it. Once the vents on the sides are shaved then it would look really bare and bland because of the big space. I do like the CF splitter but like said, its just adding to the bumper that I wanted to keep clean.

Btw, Im not firm on the price of the bumper, we can talk about it

Thanks Paul.
