I am currently looking for all the parts for an ecotec swap, and was curious how you guys would go about it, I have a 2002 Z24, 5 speed with a blown 2.4, looking to swap in an ecotec. Im in the Indy area, and wondering if any local yards seem to be cheaper or if anyone knows someone selling some of these parts I would need. I have pretty decent check coming in August, and need to get this car running. Wondering what everyone else would do in this area?

Thanks in advance.. Also, not looking for someone to tell me how to swap or anything, or asking for someone to do all the research, just wondering what direction you guys would go or specific places I would find some of these things. I did find an Eco from an 04 Grand Am, with 50k miles for 500, but not sure how that would bolt up, so really would be nice if it all came from a J-body.

The tranny you have needs a bell housing to work. You will need an eco Engine harness, exhaust manifold, downpipe, radiator, radiator hoses, clutch. I found my tranny for $250 on car-part.com Good luck finding everything my buddy always says pick a part I have no luck at that place.

I might try Feilds too since Paul swears by that place. I heard you got a really good deal on your swap.. I wanted to buy the 2.4 you had if you still had it, but I heard you sold it too, so im going for the swap too

Thanks Chuckles, I will see what I can find in this area, but that gives me an option. Im guessing since all 03+ had them, most junkyards would have a ton, but if they have more than normal there, I might head that way.

the yard paul talks about usually has plenty of ecos. we could always steal his truck and go yank one.

Yeah, we almost stole his truck to go get the car in Iowa, but Ben told him, and he got mad lol..

I wont be able to get one til Paul gets home, and he will be home for like a month, so when my check hits, I can have him go with me to pick one up. I hope they are at least decent with the price since I need all those parts.

a few things... i didnt get mad.. lol i just didnt see the point of bringing my truck that you guys are not insured on out of state.. ben has used my truck around town multiple times lol.. and last time i was at fields they had 10-15 eco's. also ill only be home for 2 weeks.. 29th- 11th..

Well, can we take a morning before the bash and head out and get some prices, just to see what we are looking at.. I think now I just need engine, harness, and Radiator with hoses. Also, need a exhaust manifold and all that, but if I can get a saab kit for a decent price or something like that, It would come with one.

I am getting an Eco bell housing this week, so my tranny will work, its got 68k miles on it with new flywheel and clutch. So, its coming along alright. I will have like 6k after I pay ben to get everything done I need to with the car. So Im on a budget lol

well im pretty sure ben just picked up stefans old radiator, and i have a few spare exhaust manifold, and the rest just call up to fields and talk to him just say your paul the cavalier guy lol.. and ask on prices..

Wow, I didnt know that there were that many parts, Id love to get everything for the swap pretty cheap, and then I can spend the rest building the motor and boosting it. Just need wheels and a drop, and my audio stuff, and the rest can be for engine work. Thanks for the info.. Get on Aim or Facebook at some point tonight and ill talk to you about it.
