so I was leaving a friend's house last night, and just as I was pulling outta the neighborhood, I hear a *BLAM* n my car nosedives.. n my engine starts making this unGodly racket... BUT it stays running. the oil light comes on, it starts reeking of hot oil, but nothing like no_limit_z24's vid of his motor blowing up. no smoke everywhere, no engine cutting off.. so I just back it back the street n park it in front of their house, leaving an oil puddle by the time I got up..
so while I didn't per say BLOW it up, something def broke to the point where it can't really be driven safely...
its all good tho.. anyone who's watched the Pirates of the Caribbean movies knows that you just can't keep the Black Pearl sunk.. she always resurfaces n moves on.. n my Pearl is no different

well lets see ,,, oil leaking out ,oil smoking , loud rod knock ,, your Right its not blown up ,,, hahahahahaha ..I told you at the Show this yr it had a rod knock...I also told you that it will not last long and that you needed to start getting a good motor together for a motor change out .....
But what does this old man know ????
I guess you don't need those body panels painted now .. you have my ph# so call me when you are ready for me to do the painting for you .... Later man good luck
You should have never waited to swap in that new motor.

well I might be doing the motor swap sooner than expected.. I went by my old house to check on my stuff in the shed (my spare LD9, spare dash, both doors, and some drum kit accessories) and everything was gone.. completely cleaned out. I guess the bank decided to come clear it out for an auction, but that spare motor being gone means I got no back up motor to build on... meaning the one in my car now needs to NOT break, 'cause I need the block in somewhat good shape
John per his post it looks like he should have took all his parts with him when he moved .. It looks like he no longer has a spare motor
Evan I have 3 are 4 good LD9 blocks .. all of them have spun a brearing but thay are still good blocks
yes Robert, I know you told me it was a rod knock.. and yes John, I know you told me not to wait for it to pop... but for one, I do have another motor waiting to go in, so not all hope is lost. and 2, I had a third motor sitting in my shed that woulda made a good candidate for a rebuild as well, so this one wasnt a total concern for me. but dont get me wrong, I didnt wanna blow it up either.. but when I found out the bank raided my shed and tossed my third motor, thats when I told Chris that we needed to do the swap ASAP for this very reason.. I was actually planning it for next weekend when I didnt have my kid
so yea Robert, how much you want to paint the kit?
I need these Type Js off the car very soon

That is a motor that needs rebuilt. He has the motor he bought for this car when he first got the car.

exactly, I do have a running LD9 sitting at Chris' old house.. the one that was in my shed was a rebuilt motor with forged pistons but that spun a bearing. it only had 30k miles on it, so I figured it'd be a good block to start building for spray or boost with.. and the one one knocking in my car would be a third back up that I could play with even later down the road
I might have to see about these blocks, Robert.. but after the good motor goes in, the first thing I wanna do is get these other skirts here and get the kit painted so I can Jess the skirts she wants and I get hers... I want the body of my car done and not have to think about it

haha, thanks Omar.. the swap wont be hard to do. I'll prep for it during the week by unplugging the harness and draining the fluids, then when the weekend comes, try to do work. Chris is busy with family stuff, which is understandable, so if anyone wants to make a trip and help me out, that would be awesome.. and I'll lend the same hands to anyone else in need since I'll have a running car again

so pulling a motor this weekend huh....hmmmmm
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
I dunno about this weekend.. I gotta order a clutch master cylinder since mine is leaking everywhere, and it probably wont get here in time, so I'm gonna wait til next weekend. plus theres a guy selling an RK upper mount for cheap, and I wanna get that here too.. do everything while the motor is out
also, I promised Justin - the guy who bought Stacy - that I'd help him get her back on the road. he f*cked up the tranny and we gotta pull it out to fix it, but he said I can drive it til we get my car running again since he cant drive it himself due to his license. and he wants it running before he goes to court on the 4th so his gf can drive it if he goes to jail (long story)
if anyone does wanna come up, I'll set a date and time so we can do this.. if cash is cool for me, drinks on me

You realize that putting a clutch master cylinder in is easily done with the motor in the car, as well as motor mount.

I figured it'd be easier with everything outta the way, but I don't remember it being hard to do during my Eco swap anyway.. Chris said u told him that the time to do it is when the motor is out.. n I've never done the upper mount myself before, so I don't know how hard its gonna be to do that part
anyway, the swap is back on for this weekend. justin decided to put stacy thru a fence yestersay, so now I got no ride next week.. I've got to do the swap this weekend or i'm screwed. the clutch master will have to wait.. its not toooo terribly bad, so I can manage for now

Evan you never fully listen to people.
I know Chris heard me correctly, and knew what I was talking about. I said the TOB/slave should be replaced whuile the motor is out. Yes. Even that is the part that is in the tranny.
The clutch master cylinder is outside the tranny and mounts on the firewall. It can be replaced any time and easy to do regardless if motor is in or out.

dont u need the motor in to connect the MM anyhow on the eco?
5 seconds to find another street...
I've got an LD9, not an Eco.. n I know the mounts are completely different between the 2
I talked to chris about it yesterday n while he did in fact say 'clutch master cylinder', I think he meant the slave cylinder.. cuz when he brought up the TOB, I told him that that's not the piece i'm replacing

The Ecotec and LD9 you can put the motor mount in with the motor in or out. In fact you can use a LD9 motor m ount on a Ecotec, or the other way, but truly you can put the upper motor mount in easily with the motor in.

Kinda reminds me of Capt. Jack Sparrow on rum.
(not to sound O/T)
yea, a failed attempt between the rain n lack of tools.. well, good tools, anyway. once I get the axles pulled out, it'll b ready 2 go.. unfortunately, I prolly won't get 2 work on it til this weekend
