1997 Black Cavalier Z24 Automatic. 122437miles as for today. $1500 OBO.
yeah im selling my car i don't want to but i will have too
; unless someone can spare me an automatic transmission cheap
. I was thinking selling it at the end of the year but i will be selling it earlier. The reason im selling it is because the car have transmission problem, the car will go from 1sr gear to 2nd gear but it won't go into 3rd or 4th gear. I took to the shop and they did a transmission service but still the same. they told me that the car was parked to long without being move (i was overseas and the car wasn't driven much) im just hoping some here would take it and take care as i have being doing.
So i have decide to sell the car as is. i have put some OEM parts back into the car. Here is a list of the aftermarket parts that i will leave in the car.
- Pacesetter Headers (ceramic coated)
- Magnaflow Catalytic
- Dynomax Thrush resonator
- Custom made lightweight pulleys crank and altenator (done by -MD- LD9)
- Rksport upper motor mount insert
- 56mm stock TB bore out
- 17 inch konig trouble
- Kumho Ecsta tires with about 50% thread wear.
- Vibrant Rear Strut Brace Tower
- Clear black housing front corner (couldn't find the originals corners)
- 9006 sylvania silverstar
- vent visor
- Pioneer Head stereo
- rear speakers Xplod
- front speakers Pioneers
If anyone have any question or want more info about the car feel free to ask.
I will get some pictures as soon as i can.
Sorry to hear Domingo, wish I could help out somehow. I know that on the upullandpay for orlando has 2 Z24's listed, one 02 one 01, but doesnt say if they are auto or stick.... so u might be able to find one there, they run about 100 bucks.... just a thought.

I dunno about auto's, but in '00, the rear tranny mount was set back farther by about 4-6".. if it was a stick, I'd be ALL OVER this thing... hey John, how hard would it be to swap in my Getrag 5spd?

All Jbody auto mounts are the same location. To put a manual in this car you would need to cut the auto mount out and weld in the new mounts (not hard if you have the right tools). Also some wiring things to deal with.
Evan your best bet is to keep the car you have. I know I and Chris have said this before. Makes no sense to sell your 98, to buy another 96-99 J. You are going to end up with a car with more miles than you already have, still need lots of money to rebuild the block you have. You have a prefectly running Ecotec now. Get that turbo kit on and with 10psi be putting down around 265whp.

Sorry to hear about your car. The sitting too long part does not make sense really. I would consider taking it to another shop and have it looked at. I wish you were closer would not mind looking at it.

Yeah i will check on one that is close to my house, but i dont know how to pull it out
; what tools do i require to pull a auto tranny, and what are the parts that i need to pull.

-16inch stock cavalier rims(2003)
-BFgoodrich traction T\A with more than 50% thread wear
-Stock corners
here a pic of the car as for now.... dont pay attetion to the other car lol it could be "my" car in the future lol
Hey Domingo glad to see your home and safe man. to get the trans out you either need to be able to pull the motor and all or remove the sub-frame and lower everything out the bottom. lifting it out is the better of the two options. once you have the room to remove it its cake to take it off and put a new one in.
get another shop to look at it. it sounds like you have a shift solenoid stuck closed. what did they say they did for the service? if it was just a flush, a fluid exchange without removing the pan and filter. then the filter could be clogged up as well and may be causing a pressure drop. it shouldn't be as bad as that though. its worth your time to get a second opinion on this, and do not tell the second shop what the first came up with. they will come to the same conclusion on their own, or find the real cause.
tell Carlos I said hi, wondering how the brakes worked out for him.
also there isa good resource for yor trans,

JC Motors 305-687-7878
you can search range 2000-2002 and you can get a newer transmission that will fit your car. any 4t40e with the bell housing for the 2.4 will work.
so any 4t40e trans will fit and work???? because i have seen in ebay a transmission 4t40e from a 3.1l cutlass i think, something like that.
Thank you Dave. oh and carlos say wasup lol
.
it has to be from a car that has your motor in it. so a 4t40e will work if its for the 2.4 motor
