I am making my final choices for colleges, I am going to be transferring as a junior and it is between Florida and California, anythign is better than NY. I have applied to UCF since I already have family there (Sister, Bro inlaw and Niece/Nephew) but also want to hear feedback. I am majoring in Business Admin, but I hope to go to Law School to become a Lawyer.
Let me know
Chris

5 seconds to find another street...
Tampa came to my college that i am at now and I was not too impressed, they said it was more of a dorm school, which i am not into partying at all. I am more into the location, beach, restaraunts, sights and @!#$ like that.

You can't beat the experience of going to UF. I did a Bachelor's there in accounting. The business school is top notch. I'm doing a M.Acc. at UNF now. They've got a decent program, located near the beach, etc.
You are pretty much guaranteed to be less than 2 hours from a beach regardless of where you go in Florida. Unless you want to be right on one, this shouldn't factor into your decision.
Having lived in Tallahassee/graduated from FSU, and now living near the heart of USF, I can assure you USF is not a big party school. The biggest party area (Ybor) is at least 15 miles from the campus itself.
Of the main schools out there, you'll have no problem finding your typical restaurants. This is snowbird heaven (or hell if you are young and like to drive above the speed limit in winter). There's a place to eat damn near every turn.
Sights in Florida? You mean the beach, right? Aside from that, you're not going to find much. There are no mountains. Waterfalls are nearly non-existant. There is no snow, no changing of the leaves, nothing. It's hot most of the year, and semi cool for the rest. It dips into the 30's occasionally at night. Any lower and we go into a state of emergency.
Cost of living is fairly cheap. There is no state income tax. Property taxes are on the rise. Home insurance rates are getting out of hand in some areas.
Honestly, I'd base my decision on the best school for what you want.
my g/f went to university of tampa for one semester and she hates it. she is transferring to UCF in january for pre-law. UT is only good if you like to party... that's the only thing they have more of there... except of course tuition... that's more too at UT...
I'd suggest UCF or UF. would you rather have more to do (UCF Orlando is fun) or the Florida Gators (UF Football) or parties (UT Tampa/Ybor)?

If you are certain you will be going after both degrees, and you think you'll want to stay in the same place in Florida for the entire time, then I'd suggest UF.
It's great to be a Florida Gator! UF is a great school, one of the better public institutions in Florida for academics, partying, and of course football. I'm in my third year now and love it here.

Has she already completed a 4 year degree or just pre law? Let me know how she likes it and a little more specifics on classes and such if she doesnt mind. See her in the fall possibly. I have been to UCF before and liked what i saw but do want to go to some place with a law or pre law program.
BTW thanks mufin, thats some good stuff I will look closer into it.

No prob Chris. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I'm only biased when it comes to sports... mainly football. And even then the only team I want to see lose is the team playing FSU or USF.
Well I applied to UCF already I will let people know if I get it. I will try FSu also so I will keep everyone posted. Regardless I will be there in march to sign a lease at an apt since there is no way I am living in a dorm. Any good complexes? Regardless I am on track to move in July.

im partial to ucf, duh..
but, if you are planning on law school and are already a junior i would vote to stay away from ucf... there is no law school
as much as I hate FSU (its boring as @!#$ and in the middle of nowhere) its the place to be for a law degree as far as i know
one of my buddies from back home got his 4 year degree from UCF and went to FSU for law school.. already has a job and is doing well
from wut it seems like you want i vote to stay away from UF or USF..
IMO i think you would like the "older, more sophisticated" life of downtown orlando and winter park, but want a top notch law school with plenty of opportunities. Florida State has the law school for you, and im sure you will find things to do. The thing with big schools is they have everything. Parties. Resources. People. You get out of it what you want. Undergrad degree doesnt matter half as much as your graduate program so I vote finish up at UCF, make contacts in the city (fraternity, internships, co-ops, etc...) then reevaluate your law school decision when you get there.
like i told you a few months back, if you have any specific questions about UCF or the greater orlando area, ill do my best to get the answers for you.. just send me a PM
good luck with your decision man
contradict yourself much, lol
i dont think when i type... ignore the part about staying away from ucf in the second line lol.. thats just about law school specifically
