Well I wanted to say thanks to Steve and the CFJ crew. I had a great time. I also want to thank everyone I met and hung out with. The track turnout was GREAT!!!!!! The show turnout was great as well. Nice to see soo many new faces.
Now after the show we had a meeting of the minds (if you will). Some might say just the celebrities. We dug for taters and came up with this:
From now on the Annual show will be in Orlando. This means no voting for a city location. We plan to open up to other GM Sportcompact cars (yes we have been inviting them for the last 2 years, but now we really want to push that), but it is still the Fl J's annual meet. Then name of the event with show this, Example: 9 annual Florida J-Body's meet and Sport compact car meet.
Before anyone says anything there was some slight issues with classing and judging. We are aware, and plan to work on that for the next one. Sorry.
In the meeting of minds it was 2 people from each city (cities not present, sorry). We chose the a person who the cities follows or listen's to. You should know who this is, so talk with your city heads. They should be talking with you as well.
Meeting of the minds was: Steve, Jason, Bonedaddy, John P, Chris W, Evan, Robert and myself.
Changing the location of the show is now not a option. If you have a issue contact a rep from your city and talk to them. If you are in a city that was not present contact 1 of the ones who was at the meeting.

Does this mean that only the Orlando crew will put on the show and no other city will get the chance to plan a show?
My understanding is it will be a collected effort through all of the areas, it just will take place in Orlando thats all. Turned out well this year minus some hiccups and next year shall be better with the broadening of our horizons. And next year I plan on having my car actually ready by the actual show, though I'll still look forward to mostly track night. Track Rat FTW!

We can all be part of the planing of the show ,in some way ..
You can help raise money , we need signs to direct people in to the show , awards , shirts ,raffle gifts ..ect.ect.ect
Remember the more money we can raise during the year the less the show will cost us to put together.. this will LOWER the (your) entry fees
And if we can talk to some people to come set up as vendors this would be Great.. ( food ,drinks, car parts , audio . ect, ect)
Remember people we can do this without all of the drama, if you first go to your city Rep and bring your input to them ,they will be able to help out .

Great... . Dictatorship / autocracy now infiltrates car shows.
And now the idea of "other" GM sport compact cars joining the meet too?
I dunno, but IMO this is a surely concrete that I won't make it next time, because to go see other cars, I'd just rather go to HIN or to a dedicated "other car" club show.
Quite frankly the idea of other cars joining what would be a "J-show" is rather insulting.

Sorry you feel this way . We only hope to make this a better and bigger show .. Think of it this way , as time goes on and people sale ,wreck,
the cavys , if we don't let others in the show it will never grow ... Remember they don't make the cavy any longer ..
Also you say you will not show up next yr , sorry to hear that . I did not see or meet you at the show this year ,was you there ????
If you would have been at the show then you could have and would have been asked to join and represent the south fla people ..

Bringing other GM (not other cars in general) sportcompact cars into the show is not to take away from our event. This is still a annual J-Body event. Ask the ones at the meeting my biggest thing has been not to loose the Fl J meet part. We plan to do things to make the event more special for the J's, while still offering classes for other GM small cars (like Cobalt's, Solstices, Ion's Grand Prix's, maybe HHR's). We will always have the classes for the J like we do now (and maybe more). I think once things progress over this next year people will like this.

If your worried about Tampa getting to host a show...dont. Tampa has a really bad history with J shows. There have been several attempted over the years and it never works out. The most common ending is people from all over FL say they will come, then the day of the show it ends up being just the Tampa crew.
One time another central FL group even went as far as to announce a meet of thier own for the same weekend, just days before the Tampa meet was to happen. You might remember, i think you were a part of the group at that time...
Anyhow the rest of the FL J's has made it plainly clear they arent interested in anything in Tampa. Possibly its a result of John Banks, James, and John Higgins getting into it years back...and James n Banks disbanding the Tampa J's to form Lost Identity...

we are all aware of the "Winter Meet" here in Tampa and are moving past that. the main issue here is that no one lets go and moves on - we are here to talk about the future of the show and not grip about the bull'ish in the past.
moving on...
GoodWrench - I feel the same as you, which is why we are not going to let the show go in that direction. As said in earlier posts, the J classes are all still going to be there, we will just be adding clases depending on what/how many GM Sport Compacts are going to join us. We have alot of people that went from J's onto something else, such as the Cobalt's, Solstices, Ion's & Grand Prix's and they still freguent the shows, why not have a class is there are enough of them and they can still be part of the show...
After we all taked and such, i feel confident that in the years to come the show will continue to grow and hopefully we can get more participation from the FL J Community - But all the bickering has to stop cause nothing hurts the show as much as that ish does...
And for those that are going to post and complain about a show that they didn;t even participate (and this is not directed Ian or GoodWrench) in then i'm sorry for you keyboard warriors. It's attitudes like that that makes things diffucult. So quick to complain about things when you guys have not even steped up to the plate to help. Perhaps rather than just sitting there waiting for the next slam you can type on ther computer - perhaps do something constructive like jerk off
I lok forward to this show every year, Enjoy seeing all the "old folks" and meeting alot of the new ones. Seeing fome fantastic cars and some not so...you know. It's just a good time if everyone would just , i don;t know - habve a good time and not sorry about all the bull'ish.
sorry for the rant, but i ain't been on here since friday...
Thanks Steve and Jason for putting on the show this year!

Ian really now. Myself and the other Tampa people have moved on from years ago. Tampa actually did have a meet (the second one) and it was a good turnout. Besides the winter meet that happened a year or so ago, I do not know anything else of Tampa hosting a meet and having issues. Again Ian really now.
I would like to thank if you know me any you know I have a strong standing with this event. I have always been one to say the show should move every year. I still voted yesterday to keep it in one place. Why to try and get rid of some drama. Fact is 4 years going everyone voted for it in Orlando so that means something.
There will be lots of info and new things talked about over the next year. Just because the heads of the cities are talking about certain issues does not mean the rest have no say. If you want to give advise you can, take the step to talk with your city reps.
Steve and CFJ thanks again!!!
Oh Jess are you ok today?? You were looking rough lastnight!!

Just a personal thought here, but can we collectively NOT keep bringing up past drama and leave it where it needs to be? Our meeting after the show was meant to be a positive "meeting of the minds" where the veterans from each area that have been doing this show for years simply brainstormed in hopes to repair and build the show. No hidden agenda, no favoritism, no internet bickering, no cheap shots, just a face to face meeting where we all had our say and we all voted (not to mention Donnie showing his caring side by sparing us all from a nasty fart by leaving the meeting briefly).
But as it was said in the meeting, J-Bodies are now going on 4 years discontinued, and are rapidly becoming a dying breed. People from here are getting new cars, a good amount are opting for the Cobalt or similar. So we think its only smart to include these other GM models in the show to keep it growing and to keep it interesting. That single Cobalt that was there kept most of our attentions for a good part of the show, and I myself didn't think he was out of place, I only wished he had more. So I'm all for including the other GM small cars, including the HHR (and yes I'm aware of what that could result in).
And Goodwrench, Robert said exactly what I was going to say. I say this with all due respect, but really, if you weren't there this year, making a smart comment and saying you're not going next year really doesn't hold much weight. I'm not trying to attack you, as you are a well respected member, and I honestly was hoping to see you and the rest of the So.Fla guys there. But it is what it is, you weren't there, so you really can't complain.
ANYWHO, having the show at Old Town was alot of fun with all the surrounding activities and food options that were right there. My lady and I had a good time, others had a good time, hopefully with the projected increase in size for next year, we can still host it there. Big thanks to Steve and his family for putting it on, thanks to Donnie for flyers and shirts, I thought they came out perfect. And thanks to the sponsors for contributing, I'm going to enjoy my little raffle prize.

the key is rather than having "to many cooks in the kitchen" we are looking for the area representatives to do what is needed - represent there areas and the ideas of there people - doesn;t that make more sense that an entire thread of people btchen about things back and forth...and is by no means a Dictatorship - thats a little dramatic dont you think...i too wanted to vot e on location and have it moved every year - but in all honesty i voted for it to stay in orlando because if wer truely want the show to grow, the succussful shows always have set locations correct?
but we all needd to pitch'in and help with the show, just cause Jason and Steve are already in Orlando doesn't mean they will have the only say nor should they have to take on the responsibility year after year...
let's see what comes of all of this before we get so negative
My I add..... yes the hotel might have been a little pricey and the whole elevator thing sucked.....BUT I Loved the fact that it was right there and the place was C L E A N! I would gladly pay a little extra for a place I don't feel Skeeved out in.....

I had a good time at the show, saw a lot of faces from last year and some more new ones this year and finally put some faces to some cars. I got to take a lot of pictures and got a tan lol so I was happy.
Congrats to everyone who took home trophy's and prizes. Everyone has done a great job with their cars this year!

I didn't get to talk to a lot of the people I wanted to this year, but I'm sure we'll all see each other again soon before the next show, or I guess there's always MySpace lol.
