A little history lesson (Florida J's)
Friday, June 22, 2007 7:40 AM
Since so many people do not understand why there is drama around the FL J's and the annual show, I figured I would give everyone a history lesson. I will admit I might not know every single thing that has happened, but I have been around since the beginning (before this site was here).

In a time far far away there was a mailing list called Club J-Body. YOu would recieve emails about topics (same type of topics you see on this site). When you responded to it it would go to everyone on the mailing list. You could get 200-300 emails daily. They were having pre-meets to lead up to the main bash. There was no pre-meet in the south. We tried to get a pre-meet close to fl, but no one was interested, the members of the mailing list did not want to see the emails, we were told to go somewhere else to create our own meet. Karl Kopp created the FL J-'s mailing list (this was roughly 8-81/2 years ago). We got more and more people together and set-up our own meet. The first Fl J meet was held in Gainesville Fl and I planned it with the help of Chris T. Drama started with that event because of the Club J mailing list, and then certain people being made about how people drove when we went to eat at the meet. After the meet people were mad about the judging (go figure we have never had that issue). We used the FL J's mailing list for a few years, but came to the ORG because everyone was on the site, plus more. The Fl J's have always ruled the southeast as far as being the most active and most of the post in the southeast forum is related to FL events. Always have and always will.

There has been more drama as well with the event. There will always be drama wit it. We always work through the drama.

Let me add some more. When we set-up this event it was a annual thing, we would vote on the location each year. We would have it in a different city each year so we could meet new people see new places. We also would vote on what month to have it in so we had feedback from everyone to get the best turnout. It was started to have fun and show off our cars. Everyone for the most part stayed at the some hotel, party and had fun. We cruise the streets together and ate together. The first event we had I think 15 J's (not bad for the first one). Next year was in Tampa Fl and we had more. Next was Ocala which had 1 of the biggest turnouts (until last year). Next was Ft. Lauderdale (this event had lots of drama behind it) thanks Viper for stepping up back then, but to me I had I think the most fun at that event. After that it came to Orlando which is where it has been.

I miss the old days. Even though there was drama back then, it was still good fun in between.
