Here is it, everyone. This year, you get to vote for who you want to see on the shirts and the flyers. This way, if you don't like something, you can blame everyone else.
You may vote for up to 3 cars at once, but you may only vote once. In other words, if you submit your vote and only choose 1 car, then you cannot chose 2 others at a later time. Choose 1 car, choose 2 cars, choose 3 cars; it doesn't matter. But you will only be able to choose once, so do so wisely.
Also, to give everyone a fair opportunity, I've seperated the cars by OEM appearance and non OEM appearance (regarding only the exterior/visual modifications). Basically, if the exterior of the car was not significantly altered by replacing body parts, you were in the OEM appearance. This will hopefully reach out to those who do not drive heavily modified cars.
This poll will remain open until the end of this month: February 28th, 11:59PM EST. That gives you a little over 2 weeks to vote.
After that, results will be announced within 24 hours (providing no problems arise).
Remember, you are voting on who's car you want to see on the flyer/shirts. The actual pictures used will be decided upon by the graphic artist. After all, they are more qualified to determine what will work, and what will not. In addition, if they cannot use the photos you've supplied already, they may ask you to reshoot some pictures to their specifications. If this demand cannot be met, then we will go to the next highest vote-getter in the class.
Okay, I think I've covered all my bases. So, without further ado, here are the nominations for the flyer and t-shirts:
VOTE FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OEM APPEARANCE VEHICLES
- fpz24
- nomi90
- KrIsToY!
- Tristan
- Viper98912
VOTE FOR TWO OF THE FOLLOWING NON-OEM APPEARANCE VEHICLES
- Jess (HalfPintChevy)
- Matt Wentz
- Jesse G
- Robert - intimidator
- Eric Francis
- Bobby (Blown&Pullied)
- THE HATED ONE (TRD Cav)
- John Piparo
If you don't remember who you are voting for, please refer to this post:
8th Annual FL J Meet Flyer Nominations.
Here is the link that you MUST follow in order to vote.
Once again, I will not be voting. I do this for two reasons:
- I will be the only person able to see the results as the votes come in. Therefore, by not voting, I remove myself from any talks of conspiracy.
- Only one vote may be submitted per person, and I already used mine to test the poll (Don't worry, the results of my vote were discarded before I made this poll public).
Please let me know if you have any problems with the voting.
So i voted YAY!!! I thnk im the first....voting went smooth good job thomas....very nicely set up...

Technically, Thomas was first, since he had to test it.
His vote doesn't count, though.
I do think we could end the voting sooner. Maybe 3-5 days.

If it seems as though voting has died, I'll end it earlier. However I figured 2 weeks gives people enough time to see the post and vote. I was going to link this to the FL J email list as well, just have been too lazy.
Also, only one "OEM Appearing" vehicle will be on the flyer. So if you vote for two or more of the choices listed 1 - 5, you've essentially cancelled out your vote.
where is the other car i posted?
SHOCKWAVE IS BACK
ok voted and thank you for setting this up
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...

I do not think we should set a limit to how many OEM appearing cars will be on the flyer/shirt. We should let people vote and let that decide.

Yea im with him on that 1...

You guys want mainly stock cars on there?
We have 5 stock cars and 8 modified cars. How is it fair to put 2 stock cars and 1 modified on the flyer when there's nearly double the amount?

I'm not saying I do or do not want stock cars on there. I do not think we should be doing it based on modded or not modded. Put a group of cars up and vote. Truly the way the list is split up to me does not make sense.
example: Vipers car is listed as a OEM apperance, but the kit on his car in those pictures is not. Matt Wentz car has a stock body kit, but aftermarket hood, but is listed as non-OEM apperance, also Roberts car has a kit that you can order on the car when buying new on it. Steve's Toyota cavalier comes that way from the factory (if you bought that option).I'm in no way trying to take away from any of these guys cars (they all look great and have lots of things done). The point of this is to pick cars to be on flyers and shirts put them up all as one and vote. If all stock cars when well we all voted it that way.

We ran through those issues while Thomas was trying to decide on the categories. In the end, you have to think of it like this: If we were told just to pick 3 cars and the top three votes went to stock cars, we'd have a stock flyer. Same goes the other way. It's being fair. Berto's car is a stock kit save for the skirts. Wentz's car, while not having a kit, has some more "extreme" mods. Steve's car is stock from factory, which I argued, but when he enters a show, they see a kit, rims, wing, etc. I said the same about Robert's car. It's a dealership kit, but the general populous hasn't seen it.

I totally understand what you are saying. again if stock cars was voted then we as a group picked them so it would be our fault, but is there really a problem with having close to stock cars on a flyer? It is a J meet for any kind of J. I see it more than likely we will end up with more or all modded J's voted, then stock J's. To me this is singling people with stock cars, or very lighly modded cars out.

I like #'s 2, 7, and 11.

I think most of the cars look great .. What I notice is there are a lot of cars that was not at the show last yr ,, If all of those cars show up this yr we should have even a bigger/better meet .. hope to see you all there.
the other thing I notice is there are some OLD pics of some cars, And the cars do not look the same today as in the pics .. so why are we going to vote for a out of date pic of a car that no longer looks the why it does in the pic ,, this goes right back to If your car is not going to be at the show then it should not be up for a vote ,(Steve),
So if you put the car up for a vote just make sure the car up for the vote and you will be at the show ..
Lets not vote for a car that is not going to be there or doesn't look like it does in the pics .
It's sort of like sending somebody a pic of you from High-school ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that was 10/20 yrs ago ..lol

Steve, I'll PM you in a bit. You've made no comments that the car would be at the show, and one of the things people mentioned both last year, and early this year, were that the cars should be at the show. If you are trying to sell a car show based on the car (let's face it, this flyer is one of our largest sources of advertising) then people will be disappointed if the car is not at the show. The post you made in the Nominations thread also mentioned you would not be there.
John. If you open up voting to everyone, the chances of a car representing the mass amount of cavaliers out there (aka stock or close to it) is slim to none. The truth is, the stock car is a huge disadvantage against any other modified car, no matter how clean it has been kept. How do I know this? Well, the early indications of the voting would leave #'s 1-5 out of the flyer. It's not fair to put up those guys against the bottom half. And everyone seemed to be on board with having an "OEM appearing vehicle" in the flyer to draw in those who did not have an extreme car.
Now, to explain all of the reasoning for why the cars were split up as they were.
First of all, I'm not here to determine who's cars are to be in mild, wild, etc. I'll leave that to the show coordinators. I'm basing my judgment's on exterior alone, and the only wise thing I could do to give the fairest option was to separate them as stock appearance, and not stock appearance. Given the number of entrants and the cars that were entered, the lines of who would belong where was too difficult to determine. I based my decisions off of any common person that was walking by a car at a Wal-mart parking lot.
So I'll explain each one that you pointed out.
Roberts car does not come from GM as is. It may come from the dealership as so, but the kit itself does not come from the factory production plant in Ohio or Mexico.
Steve's kit was the same, however this was also only available in Japan. It's not representative of an OEM cavalier. If you disagree on these two, we can go to any dealership and you can prove me wrong.
Berto's pictures will not be able to be used. If he was chosen, he would have to take some more pics. Because of this, he should be included in the OEM appearance as he currently has my old LS Sport kit. The difference between the pics and current state is minimal (the sideskirts do not drastically change the appearance of the car). Either way you look at it, he's still going to be recognized as a cavalier at a Wal-mart parking lot, where as someone would have to look twice at the aforementioned cars.
Matt's car is a perfect example of a car that would blur the lines. But as you cannot get that hood from GM and the doors open funny, I put it in non OEM appearance.
There is no way to be fair to everyone. People thought a stock looking car should be represented on the flyer. You have 5 that are fairly close to stock. People want a more modified car to attract more people. There's a few of those up there as well.
When you do something like this, you are going to have controversy no matter how you look at it. I simply tried to minimize this controversy.
