FYI: GR2's are not meant for lowering, nor are the Monroes. If you're buying this setup, you're best off getting just the springs and getting some more appropriate dampers for them.

Still fighting the good fight eh?

I think the reason why people say they are fine is because they don't have anything proper to compare it to. If you guys actually had a car with proper suspension then you'd realize that Wild Weasel is just trying to look out for the members and try and prevent someone from wasting their money on garbage.

Ok, well what im saying is.. it's a good starter suspension.. it's the first one i've had, and for someone who doesnt know what being lowered is like... it's pretty good for starting.. holy @!#$

Re: FS: Lowering Springs/Strut Package

Whats the point of a "starter suspension?"

Why not save some extra pennies and buy the right stuff the first time instead of doing it twice?

The s-tech springs are $229 at my local shop anyway. lol

Re: FS: Lowering Springs/Strut Package

Just because it's someone's first suspension upgrade doesn't mean they have to get a crap one, if anything doing it right the first time and taking advice from people like Wild Weasel and deflux is what starters SHOULD be doing. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the stupid people that kept saying lowering springs with OEM replacement struts/OEM struts is fine.

And Ron C how would you feel if your first suspension set up was crap? You wouldn't know any better at the time, but eventually you'll get a proper setup and look back and feel stupid. It's why this forum exists; to save starters from making dumb mistakes like buying an improper suspension setup. Also, what Kevin said is not "bull @!#$" because he is right. Compare those springs on the struts being sold here with the same springs on konis/d-specs and the difference would be obvious.

time spent reading this thread: 3 min
money saved for a newb who would have bought a crap suspension: $400
Weasel once gain exposing a crappy seller's attitude: Priceless

I have GR2's they're bouncy as @!#$, I am used to bouncy suspensions so it doesn't bother me much. Drives passengers nuts good thing I don't drive around with many lol In the same sense mine are at least 6 years old 3 with me and 3 with someone else. Next season brings an entire new suspension for me.

I have however ridden in a car lower than mine with brand new gr2's and it rides a hell of a lot better than mine, so in a sense if they're newer they're not as bad if someone wants a cheapish setup, but if you don't want a cheap setup keep lookin.

Not crappin on ur thread just adding personal experience, I'm honestly 50/50 on the struts for opinions.

I went from Koni reds and Sportlines to Koni Yellows and Ground Control coilovers, and this setup makes the old one feel like crap...so I really can't imagine how horrible ANY car with GR2s feels, not to mention how unsafe it is.

I had a previous passenger who had GR2s on his car make a remark about how much BETTER my setup felt, and that was with the reds/sportlines...that should clearly tell you something, only if you have a mind open enough to listen.

I should just permaban everyone who's knocking me for providing valuable information.

Thanks for backing me up guys!

This forum isn't here for people to peddle garbage that they don't want anymore. If you're selling something people might not want but might not realize it, this forum isn't the place to try to keep that a secret.

If people read good advice and choose to ignore it, then I could care less, but one of my jobs here is to try to get that good advice out there.

If people think that all I do here is jack threads and post negative crap... well... I'm ok with that. The real members here know better.

If you want to sell something without repercussions, try eBay, Kijiji, or the even .org classifieds. Try it in a discussion thread however, and don't be surprised when something suddenly becomes open to discussion. The "if they don't ask, I won't tell" method for selling items doesn't fly very well when you have a community like this. When it does, we've all lost something valuable.

i have GR2's on mine with Gold Line springs. does it bounce, yeah a bit. the spring rate is fairly high for a lowering spring and they are OEM replacement struts. i knew what i was getting myself into. i couldnt justify getting a really nice setup for a car that was destined for the scrap heap in 2 years or less.

some would ask why i even bothered to lower it. well, why not? the setup was inexpensive and i wanted to have fun. the car does handle much better than stock, but stock was a 10 year old 220,000 km suspension... would i buy GR2's again? yes. would i put them on a lowering application for a long term car? probably not.

Well lets see they are putting it on a Cavalier/Sunfire. Right there they are already starting with garbage so going with a low end suspension will not matter

Are you stupid? There's a reason why the tuner scene exists...because our cars start out as "garbage" but through hard work we can turn it into something nice. Maybe you should save up to get yourself a car that's not "garbage"? Because by then my cavalier will probably be able to wipe the floor with your non-"garbage" car. =)

I do have a car that is not "Garbage" I also have a Z24 that is "garbage" You dont know me nor my cars so settle down. All i was stating was that some who prob spent $2000 on there car is not going to spend another 1000 on lowereing springs/coilovers. I think threads like this exist for people like that. In all honesty i dont know why someone would buy suspension parts used unless they are on a budget.

Ok stupid comments like this really do make me laugh.

For all you know, Kevin (Cavy95) could have something that puts down in excess of 400HP, powers all 4 wheels, stops with retina-detaching immediacy, will run an 11 or 12 sec pass and tear up a road course 5 minutes later. You? You have a 4-dr LN2 powered Cavalier. I don't care HOW much money you spend on a turbo setup (yet another kid with biiiiiig dreams for his J) or whatever else you're going to buy for it...I still don't like your chances. Hell, you could go drop 10k on that car tomorrow and I doubt it'd be able to keep up with MY car, and it's only a Cav!

But keep dreaming, I get a kick out of watching so many of them go up in smoke.

Wow BlownBlackZ you're one tough guy aren't you? Maybe you should learn to read first. =) I'm pretty sure I said I could PROBABLY wipe the floor with him, because I know there's a chance that he's got a crazy setup on his car.

And yes, because obviously I'm going to keep the LN2 -_-". By the time I'm your age my 4-dr Cavalier will hopefully be one of the fastest J's out there, and you'll probably be in a nursing home still trying to laugh at kids with dreams. Maybe that's your problem, you never had any dreams so you just turned into some old guy being mean to younger kids that will actually do something with their lives.

And if I dropped 10k on my car today it won't beat your car because the engine alone will be around 8k. I don't have "biiiiiig dreams" for my J, I just want to make my J as good as I can. So yes you can keep hoping my dreams go up in smoke, but I doubt that will happen. =)
