Thinking of getting an underdrive pulley for my Z24, anyone try the $50 eBay aluminum pulleys? they look promising, just looking to get feedback before I buy one, or if someone is selling a used name brand one, tell me what kind and what your asking. Also, you can use the same belt if you change the underdrive pulley right?
ask mike (MD-LD9) if he is still doing his GP on his or if he is out of pulleys. his seem to be the best price for quality, but they arent under drive. they are stock diameter, but lighter weight and rotating mass.

The eBay one? I dont care if they are smaller, isnt it the lighter part your going for? The eBay ones weigh 1.2 lbs, thats pretty light

the weights below are from the GP, i did the ounce to lbs conversion.
Stock crank weight: 61.92 Ounces = 3.870 lbs
Manufactured Crank 24.25 Ounces = 1.516 lbs
Stock alternator weight: 6.34 Ounces = 0.396 lbs
Manufactured Alternator 3.00 Ounces = 0.188 lbs
All weights were done using an UPS scale.
the ebay one is lighter than mikes, but if its smaller. it will spin the crank faster, causing your accessories (a/c, alternator, etc) to spin slower. also, finding a proper sized belt may be harder. generally, when addint a smaller crank pulley, you add a larger alternator pulley. this does cause the alternator to spin even slower, but if the 2 pulleys are sized properly, the stock sized belt will work fine,or a different sized belt is suggested sometimes too if they are sold as a kit.
personally, the lighter but stock diameter pulleys would be better as no rotation speeds would be changed, but rotating mass would be lost and the weights from stock would be almost half.

What do you mean by that, I dont understand........I dont know if the eBay pulley is the same size as stock. I think it is but just lighter. Anyone ever buy one?
you're gonna want to spend the extra coin and get one that you know is going to work properly. No sense in rolling the dice on an ebay pulley if you're not even sure what you're getting yourself into.
i'd recommend doing what myself and a lot of other folks have done, get the pulley in the GP right now. it'll cost you more, but it will be worth the money spent. that's just my $0.02
MD-LD9 (mike's) are great....no complaints works great, looks great, and great quality
....don't waste your time on ebay garbage
"If you have no clue what's going on... STFU!"
You said this Mike guys pulleys are smaller then stock.......where do you get a belt......i want one that i dont need a new belt
his are not underdrive pulleys, they are the stock size just lightened a fair bit. uses the same size belt.
now hurry up and get one before he runs out again!
How much are they and how much do they weigh?
You gotta read before you post man
By not being underdrive then they are stock size like mentioned many times
Im not trying to be an ass but you gotta read
He has a GP in the Group Purchase section
I just got mine and they are great
You buy cheap ebay parts you get cheap parts
I dont understand at all, you need to explain this to me..........................I need a lightweight underdrive pulley, i dont know what this mikes pulley is or anything, i need someone to explain!
Mikes Pulley is a Lightened Pulley
NOT A UNDERDRIVE
Go with Mikes much better quality if you can get one
I want an aftermarket Underdrive pulley though, its the pulley that sits the lowest on the motor I believe, like this....http://cgi.ebay.ca/Underdrive-Pulley-Cavalier-Pontiac-Sunfire-93-02-2-4L_W0QQitemZ180244763573QQihZ008QQcategoryZ38656QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
thats what im talking about
look.. were telling you ...his (mike's) are better then an underdrive pulley, if you get that you have to also buy a new belt because it's smaller as well....if you buy mike it's lighter and better, then the underdrive and stock pulleys...if you look at the top of this post it tells you the weight difference from stock...were trying to help you ....were SAYING DON"T BUY the underdrive pulley, you want ebay parts, you get what you pay for, don't waste your money, buy a pulley in the group purchase section from mike (MD-LD9), IF...he still has them, he's also selling lightened alternator pulleys as well.....there well worth the money and then some......
