Suspension Question
Sunday, March 02, 2008 1:36 PM
Hey guys,
new on the forums, and have been looking through the suspension and break forum. Ready to buy my Eibach Pro Kit and new struts. Us being in the North(Canada) where do you guys order, or pick up your parts from. I am in the Ajax/Pickering Area.

Thanks,

Marcor/Northern Motorsports in Hamilton has always had koni's in stock. They had the excusive on them for some time. I like Monika, if she is still there.

Anyone with a Keystone account can get you the Eibachs. That's pretty much half the city. I suggest shopping around for them to see who is willing sell them the cheapest. I'm sure Northern has access.

Going accross the border get you the best price. Might be worth a trip. There are ton's of shops in MI that can help you. Installing them down there is a viable option.

Has anyone been to Tool Tyme in Oshawa? if so.. what kind of stuff do they carry?

The eibachs are up in the GP forum for a good price, bite the bullet on the shipping and pay it... they're usually about $330 from a place like parts source or canadian tire through keystone (I work at Partsource right now)

Keystone is a parts distributor that sells to pretty much everyone here. Including Crappy tire and it's bastard child, Partsource.

I mentioned Northern/Marcor because they are the ones that have the decent shocks for the car. Most will have KYB for the J which isn't your ideal choice. I know nothing about tokico product which is also offered through Keystone. If you are buying Koni's, they will pass though Marcor first.

If you want a year make and model search for Keystone supplied products, Look Here.

Sorry to the OP, I didn't see you wanted the pro-kit, not the sportlines. As far as struts go, I don't have any major experience with the Konis as I went with D-Specs, primarily because from what I read they were pretty much the same as the konis, but I could get them cheaper. Surprised they're not mentioned here... Anyways, I ordered mine on ebay for I think it was $550-600, with all the shipping and brokerage fees, which was about $200 less then I could get the konis. If you're patient, people sell a lot of suspension setups used.

Suspension sources were all about luck for my stuff. I got a set of Eibach Sportlines on eBay from a Canadian seller for about $140 shipped. I paired those with a set of new D-Specs that I had imported through Jason at A+. He was able to arrange shipping with USPS (postal) shipping into Canada so as to minimize import costs.

What setup did you get? and how much did it cost? if you don't mind sharing?

Also I wouldn't mind the D-Specs, i wasn't really glued to the Koni's so we shall see what happens when I go see Shai. Thanks for that shop point out too.

It's actually Che, but pronounced like "shay".

I can't speak for the Tokicos, but I have heard good things about them though. I can speak for both Koni setups. I used to have Reds, and currently have Yellows. They're both top quality, sublime ride quality, there's good reason why they're one of the most sought-after dampers for any car. Keep your eyes peeled on the classifieds, as you'll see people selling them every so often. IMO if you're going to get premium dampers like D-specs or Konis, go with Sportlines. They're not too low that you'll scrape or bottom out on everything, and they're actually cheaper than the Prokit.

The only reason that I am a little concerned about the sportlines is cause I use this car as my summer and winter driver. Would the sportlines be a problem in the winter do you know?

I drove three winters on mine, never had any issues. I'd still be on them now if I didn't snag a set of Ground Controls and the aforementioned Koni Yellows last summer.

Alright, thats good new then. Pretty sure Jason might still have some of the GB Sportlines left, if not I'll see what he can do in regards to a price for me. Thanks for help man!

I'm goin on 2 winters now on sportlines and ALMOST no problems. But any problem I've ran into has been my own fault not so much the lowered aspect of it.

Either one of the suppiers on this site, or www.shox.com

I got my D-Spec kit from them, after a bit of back-and-forth because of CC problems (brand new card, pretty sizeable order - nice to know at least Amex is watching my back ), they got it out to me in record time.

Word of advice however: Phone in your order, or it'll get held up in the online ordering system.
