Anyone from the Scarborough or Markham area know where I can find a used 2002 eco engine, as mine blew a timing chain and its pretty much toast. Need to know how much can I get one for and how much to have it installed. Mechanic where my car is currently stored quoted me 3800.00 for an egnine rebuild. I can't afford that as I have my first child coming this summer, I don't have much to throw around for this. Any input would be appreciated.
Or if anyone can help me out with possibly getting my current engine rebuilt, for hopefully better than the 3800.00 quote I got from another mechanic.
I would say to check around at wreckers anywhere near you. I had to get a 2.4 for my 99 (in Southwest Manitoba) and I got it from a salvage yard for $950+tax. I'm not sure what the eco would run at, but I think it might be the cheapest to get one that's tested and guaranteed to run. The labor charges to install it are what is gonna kill you, unless you can do it yourself.
I kid from my hometown blew up his 2.4 (because he didn't change his oil pretty much ever), he took it to a shop that my family deals with quite frequently and his bill was $1600 just for the engine, I'm not sure what it was for labor but I'd imagine it was close to that as well.
Call around to wreckers.
Labour will kill you. If I had a spot to work in, i would do it for you.
Check out car-part.com, I took a search and found a huge list of eco's ranges from $1000 and under for the engine. Probably can get it installed by gtpsunfire for $500.
