I'm looking to buy a cold air intake from ebay for the piping. I plan on buying a K&N air filter. I have a 2002 sunfire with the 2.2L (non ecotec) Will a cold air intake for a 98-02 cavalier work on my sunfire, I thought they were the same but the guys selling these on ebay say they are different and show different pics For both. I would just buy the one for the sunfire but they are going for $77 before shipping as the cavalier ones are going for $17-$30 before shipping.

No body can help me out on this one? I'm sure somebody knows.

Can no one on here just answer the questions you ask? Why does everyone have to stray from the question and tell you what they think you should do. Thanks for that mike, but I own a sunfire, I'm obviously looking to pinch every penny I can, and I'm willing to take a small 1-2hp loss in doing so by buying an ebay intake, rather than a $200 - $400 name brand one.

Its just a pipe with a filter
If you want buy an ebay intake then get a decent filter for it....
I dont see why a Cavalier and Sunfire intake would be different....
lol what?

I got an ebay intake in the mail. Im going to get raped when they get here because they were shipped by ups from los angeles. Its just a piece of pipe. It doesnt matter that much, just aslong as they dont leak, and have a decent filter, they should be all about the same.
Ya i don't think that they should be any different if it's a 2.2. A friend of mine ordered a cold air for his cavalier off e-bay and it came with 2 pieces of piping and a no name blue filter. The piping angles didn't reach anywhere that would become a cold air. The only place it would reach was to the factory box he ripped out. I say just save your money and buy the real deal and don't waste your time with e-bay.
it all depends on if you are willing to modify the tubing if need-be.
I dont see there being a problem in buying the piping from ebay, i know tons of people here on the org that bought intercoolers off ebay and i have yet to hear anything negative, but those are also the people who are willing to modify the piping if need be, like i said.
The only thing i would be weary about is the placement of the L that attaches to your engine, poor construction can lead to the wrong placement of the attachment, which means the piece is crap unless you move it to where it should be.
I'm back from the dead.
Currently Driving: RSX Type-S.
My Cavalier Burnt up :-(
I'm usually fairly good with modifying things. Phil, thats the same intake I saw for the sunfire, really the only one they have for the sunfires. I think I'll go with that one.

The intake from a sunfire is the same as a cavalier. If its going to have fitment issues on 1 car it will have the same issues as the other.
Lots of people actually dont know the sunfire and cavalier are the same car. (minus appearence).
Ebay intakes might need to be modified to fit 100%, but really you just need the tubing to get you from 1 place to another, and if need be, autozone will have bends in case you need to mod it.
I dont get why people say not to "waste time" with ebay. Personally Id rather save 75% off a name brand on something like this, and worry about 5 minutes extra work on the install.
Sorry to ramble. Hope you dont run into any problems.
Don't worry about rambling on. I agree with you that I too think it's worth saving money on an ebay intake. Just aslong as you go out and spend money on a good filter like K&N. Not sure if I trust the ebay filters too much. And for the cars being the same. I knew they were in most cases despite exterior appearence. As I now have a cavfire. I just wasn't sure if there was a slight difference in the engine bay to list car specific intakes. People on ebay were listing cavalier specific intakes and sunfire intakes. All the sunfire intakes for the 2.2L in '02 are more expensive than most of the cavaliers 2.2L '02 intakes but it appears the sunfire intakes are the better option, (higher quliaty) just a bit more pricey.

This might be a little off topic but if you want a good intake at a decent price check out the guys at rdfabs. They do really good quality work
. I was able to get my intake shipped with a K&N filter not to mention the polished finish on the stainless. Worth while investment if you ask me, even though it is just a piece of pipe.
RDFABS does awesome work.
