I picked this up because I was going to swap it into a vehicle I was gonna pick up. The plans for that fell though, so I am selling it. Its from a 99 SFGT, so its got no EGR, 2 wire knock sensor and the newer injectors. This is ready to swap into any vehicle, it has EVERYTHING, powersteering pump, alternator, COMPLETE AC system, starter, complete harness, pcm, heck the belt is still on it. It was a 5 speed car so thats the harness it has. All it is missing to swap it into a 2.2 is the transmission, aside from that, EVERYTHING is included.
There was just over 140,000km on it when removed and ran smooth as silk.
$1500, located in North York.
He got it for FREE as well. WAY to friggin high. You can get engines on warrenty from scrapyards with less km's for that price as well.

You can get engines for that price, try getting them complete with the PCM, wiring harness, AC system, Alternator, starter, etc etc etc. You will be paying upwards of $2000 for everything.
no you defiently won't check car part.com way cheaper and alot less KM
Try calling them and seeing if its complete. Some people just dont know how to read...
so i did a little research....
everything close to that price has high mileage, plus its a wrecker motor, and all the experiance i have had with wrecker motors is that they cut wires, have no ac compressor, no alternator, no power steering pump, no ac system, no clutch, no pcm etc etc etc
instead of taking the time to do it right,,, they just chop chop and chop.
but hey... if you know any other place where you can get what GTPSunfire is selling for the same price that is pretty much a plug and play... then go get it... no need to bash the guy for what he's selling it for or what he's selling..
C'mon now Darren, you can't argue with these guys I mean they all do nothing but work on cars for a living and a hobby so they know everything...
....don't they?

We can't all be god talented mechanics like you. AND my only beef is the engine was free in the first place.

Who the hell cares how i got the engine or who i got it from? When you call for one of these amazing wrecker engines, do you ask how much they paid and where they got it from? Then offer them less according to how much they got it for? Didnt think so...
Actually if you consider it, the engine wasn't free.
He has to spend the money to drive quite a distance with a truck, REMOVE the engine for the person, and then drive it all home.
His time and gas costs something.
Regardless, it doesn't matter if god handed him the engine, he owns it now and is entitled to sell it for whatever he pleases. Just as you're entitled to buy it off him and give it away.
"Crate" motors are motors that come wtih no manifolds, accessories, or wires. It's the bare motor.
A CRATE New GM motor is around $1800 cad.
Darren is selling you a full engine, with wiring harness, PCM, manifolds, accessories, with a bit of mileage on it. Call up any junkyard and ask for an engine with a PCM and a full wiring harness and watch the price skyrocket.
If you broke the car down to its parts, this is what it's worth:
Used engine: $900 or so
PCM: $300 or so
Wiring harness: $150-$200
Manifolds: $75 each
Alt: $100
Sensors: $600 or so... considering the crank and cam sensors are over $180 each and the MAP is $250
TB: $100
That's around... $2400.
Sounds like a deal to me.

heres the price i got.
2.4 removed from a 2001 cavalier 98KMS $600+core
engine brain box $114.
complete engine wire harness $75-$125.
thats $600 cheaper and 42,000 less KMS then your set up.

many wreckers are more then willing to tell you where the motor came from. if it was an American car they will tell you. alot of them will even show you pics of the car and tell how long they have had the part. wrecker prices ARE negotiable, so feel free to make offers or ask for a better price.
oh yea the price of a salvage car is pretty high. these are not $50 cars there pulling motors out of. on average a rear or side hit 02 cavalier base will go for $3000-$5000, depending on the cond of it.
good luck selling it man

Notice the $600 PLUS the core...
Also, I will GARAUNTEE you that engine has no ac compressor, no alternator, no power steering, no clutch(with under 10K on it), no rad(included in my engine), no AC condensor, no AC canisteretc etc etc.
-Ya.. but when you are buying an engine from a wreckers.. I am guessing all you want is the motor anyways... SO if someone asked you for just the motor alone, then what would you tell them price wise ? (no ac, alt, ecu, rad, power steering, clutch. I mean your setup is "complete" but most people looking for the engines in the first place just need the engine itself for some sort of replacement for a blown motor. ( replacing a motor that is knocking, spun bearing ect ect.). So would your best bet be to sell a lot of those peices seperate from the engine itself or say "I am open to part things out from it ? I do not think anyone will need or want such a complete setup.

rads and A/C components are not considered engine parts. and many of the accessory's are included with the motor.
oh and FYI the core is $50, which if you do the math is STILL $550 cheaper then your set up.

no clutch(with under 10K on it)
who the hell puts a used clutch in a car?
http://registry.gmenthusiast.com/images/my2005cav/my%20car%20the%20bash.jpg
No, the rad and AC condensor are not normally included with the engine, but I am including it, so add a few more pennies to your total. Plus, what accesories are included in that motor you prices out? Did you call, did you ask exactly what was included?
And Shorthand, I know people wont need everything that I have included if they are doing a straight engine replacement, but like I said in my first post, it would be the perfect engine for someone swapping into their 2.2 car.
I donno what junkyards you go to... but an engine comes only with basically the crate motor - no accessories, no manifolds, no anything.
And all wiring harnesses and fuel lines are cut and hacked off. I've seen them remove a motor/tranny.... it's ugly.
Oh well. Everybody's a know-it-nothing.

yes the rad and a/c components are a bonus. which used will cost an extra $200 or so.
second the motor i priced was through one of the sales guys at work, not my price the public price. all accessory's where included with the exception of the alternator.
no with that said. id say a fair price for your package would be $1000-$1200.

get a quad4 for $225 cnd with everything except wiring
I got mine with 150k km, manifolds, power steering pump, exhaust sensors (illegal to take ac here) starter, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, getrag standard transmission, AND mounts.
If you're not gonna buy it, STFU.
It's that simple. Kev, can we lock this please?
