Cost/Labour for clutch??
Sunday, June 25, 2006 8:17 PM
It's been a month now my 99 z24, there has been a whining noise when i'm driving and rattling noise when on nuetral but once i put the clutch in it went away. So i'm guesing it's the throw out bearing. looking to put new clutch as well.

Does anybody know how much does it cost to install a new clutch kit/ t.o. bearing ? How many hours approx.?

Lastly, any suggestions on a good transmission shop or someone to get this done? ( around Burlington, Oakville, Missisaugga area.)

thanks in advance,
Al

I can do it for you. I have done many of these trannies. Just ask around JCO. I normally charge $400 for it.

I'd imagine it would be upwards of $500 for labour, but that's just a ballpark figure.

I'd do it if I was in that area, your clutch assembly is going to be around $200-250, and you should be able to find a kit for around that much I'd imagine; with pressure plate, release bearing and friction plate.

I did the clutch in my genII 3.1L and it took about 8 hours, because it was in my driveway on jacks, and because its wedged right in there with that V6.

I'm sure someone will be able to do it for you from these boards, a '99 can't be that much of a POS to work on.

Sorry Man, I think i'm just gonna wait for may tranny to blow out and put a new tranny in. My Dad's o'l friend came over & diagnose it. he said it's not the clutch and t.o. bearing thats making the rattling noise. Instead he said it's the input shaft bearing. He said it's gonna cost me approx. 2 grand labour/parts if i get it fixed. then i'm just gonna start looking for a decent isuzu tranny.

The guy used to work at mister transmision but he retired due to stroke& heart problem

Why dont you take my new rebuilt tranny (paid 1000 for the rebuild) with a new spec stage 1 clutch and t.o bearing for 500.00..you can check how it shifts.... The car sits on my drive way and I wouldnt mind letting the tranny go.

Oh it came from my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. My grand am is a 2.4L 5spd (isuzu), same tranny bro. I have the bill for the rebuild, which explains what was done and the warranty which I think is over now. I also have the bill for the spec stage 1 clutch which is barely even used. The balljoingt snapped off the grand am about 3 weeks ago, so I just had it jacked up and have no use for it, im selling the motor and tranny each for 500. If you want, pay me 500 for the tranny and clutch and bearing, call up Darren, see what he ll charge you. And you can drive your car to my house, and do the swap right there. But get a hold of Darren, 500 bucks and its yours with the clutch. And bro, it shifts like butter and you can check it before you buy it. I m gonna go home and see if I can find the bill and warranty for it. Call 647 226 9719

I can do that swap for ya, but I will do it at my place.

The engine was rebuilt as well which has about 55000km (before the rebuild it was 235 000. Nonetheless, theres only approx. 20000km on the tranny, since it was done after the motor rebuild. I got it done on 24/02/2005. The warranty was for 6 months or 10000km but is voided once the tranny is taken out of the car. This is a steal and if you want a better deal, get it done by Darren. My car has a broken balljoint so I dont know how were gonna get it to his house. If you really want it, call me 647 226 9719 (Sam). And hopefully, I can get a hold of Darren, and will get the party started lol. Ill even bring a few hands to help with the swap, and like I said before Im not a man to play games, you can check how the tranny shifts before you buy it. Once again, call me if your really interested and will set a date. Remember its 500 for the tranny and clutch and bearing.

Let me know,
Thanks
