I don't know any more details about this, I simply noticed it this morning after signing out of my hotmail account.

The article doesn't specify any details about what will and what will not be "street racing", but it's probably safe to say that people who mod their cars will be targetted.
If you don't street race, the concern may not be too high, but the possibility is always there due to ignorance.
Especially if they law is vague.

its not a bad idea from what i have heard so far.
me i personally dont street race because i think it is a waste of time. yeah it is fun, and i have raced before, but it is dangerous and the gains arent worth the risk.
nobody seems to want to take a proactive approch to this though. build some more tracks, through some funding into venues and events and maybe that will stop it.
and ya i know people will be mad that their tax dollars are going into something like this because they dont street race. thats like saying you dont want your tax money going to cancer treatment because you dont have it or you dont have it anymore. its stupid how people dont see that gettng the street racers off of the street and onto a track is going to make driving on the streets safer for them. they are gaining alot if the streets will be safer for them to drive on.
yes i know putting in a track or two probably wont get racers off the streets, but puttng them on a track is better than putting them in jail.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
This law is quite bunk to be honest. NO offense to anyone in the City, but OPP has nothing better to do out here, every young buck pig out here thinks they can change the world..... NOw they will just throw the street race crap all over the place. What harm is there giving a buddy a little go @ a dead stop sign ?, what harm is there racing in the Airport Road industrial area ? None, the only harm is to the driver themselves, which is the drivers problem.

i understand both sides honestly its the stupid punks that race down portage on sunday night that give the rest of any scene bad news. i believe the city should give cordinated events in street racing, ive heard about them in japan and some other euro countries.
i havnt actually found a place to race besides gimli speedway and thats mostly quarter mile.
i dont see nothing wrong with given it alil on dead end road outside of the perimiter.

There are quite a few tracks in place throughout Ontario that "racers" can go to. I strongly believe that people who endanger others trying to race on the street deserve to be in jail. They are not safe, and they do not belong on the road. I'd be more at rest to see a street racer behind bars then smashed into the side of my car.
I do agree that there should maybe be some more tracks built, and advertised to the public. The onslaught of the aftermarket industry in recent years definetely needs an equal boost in the race track industry, or whatever you'd call.. to offset the idea some kids have that it is OK to blast down the road in their Cavalier (Cobalt?!?) that they've invested so much time and money into. Their blood, sweat and tears should be rewarded with an adequate setup wherein they can show off their driving skill. Whether it be drag racing, or track racing, the time they put into building their cars should have some sort of pay off.
I cant agree more with the side against street racers. Ill be honest, through my young years I made a fool of myself trying to race in an old beat up grand am and thinking I gained respect. Thats one thing I like about the org., it changed my whole perception of whats right and wrong in modding and led me through a straight path with respect to racing. Ive never been to a track, nor do I ever race on streets, however I do get a good laugh out of the idiots that try and represent themselves in the worst possible way. With respect to this law, its a good idea, however like the article said it will be hard to prove "intent" (of whether or not someone is racing), so in my opinion I think Harper is just looking for a way to get recognized better and use his good old phrase "serious time for serious crime". But remember, the law is not in Ontario, only in BC as it is the land of street racers. Irrespective, I agree with the fella above who mentioned that we need to build more tracks, but seriously I think we just need one track thats local to Toronto.
ive been targeted 3 times by cops this year. one time they tried convincing me my new gauge pod was a distraction to the general public when i was driving home from work. i told them to call up there supervisor and have him come down to decide that. at that point they gave me a warning to remove it and let me on my way. sometimes its uderly stupid what cops do.

-Insurance is rediculous on dragways, St Thomas and Cayuga have a hard enough time as it is. MANY people have looked into building one for Woodbridge, but to much just gets in the way.
