Is this worth it?
Tuesday, February 21, 2006 3:31 PM
Ok so basically this is the deal, my cars stock, and im getting it done over in about a months time. The guy that i spoke to said that he will get me a body kit consisting of the Blitz front, Bomex sides, Buddy style rear, Commando style wings, and RKSport Carbon Fiber ram air hood, along with Z3 fenders, and also a candy apple red, show car style finish paint job, (ive seen his work done, and they look pretty sweet). This includes full paint of everything on the car. All of it for 4000 dollars flat, this includes the price for the body kit, hood, wing, etc etc, and labour. This is in canadian funds, is this worth it. What did other people pay for their setup, just so i have an idea.

Thx

He better not ask for the money up front....because he'll disappear ....
I know a shop that does the same thing to costumers, offers them the world . But the money must be paid up front....then he takes months to complete the job...sometimes he doesn't. Just don't get rip off... all show no go...spend your money wisely..good luck..

Yea i would never pay up front, he told me its better if i pay at the end, just to make sure, that no one has any problems at the end, such as you didnt do this right, and all. so he told me to bring it in, hell take around 3 weeks to do everything. and told me that i can pay him off before driving off with it

Dont be a monkey.

Dumping $4000 into a car that isnt even worth that much. Put the money somewhere more useful.

Well said John.

It'll be another ugly (probably) fiberglass kit on an old slow car, but with fancy paint.

Kinda sounds....dare I say it.....ricey?

I mean u guys do all seem to have cars, with a nice body paint, along with body kits on as well. So is this much different? Body kit, and everything included, for 4000. I mean this car is gonna be mine for another 4 years, atleast till im done univeristy (Hopefully) id rather work ont the car now, i mean dont get me wrong, i am also putting in performance upgrade to it as well, to make it run smoother. Basically all this work that im doing now, is for my own personal gains, my cavy is pretty decent, ofcourse there are much better cars, but i can maybe look at better cars, one i am done univeristy and have a bit more money on hand....

Lil B drives a 2001 z24 (a very nice Z indeed).... You are drivng a base model 97....

The only J's to me worth modding really are...

1996 to 1999 z24's
2000 to 2002
2000 to 2002 z24's
2003 to 2005 eco and non eco.

ANYthing else really and you are dumping lots of moeny into a car most likeely not even worth it. MY car is still fetching 8k and more on the Auto Trader, which is insentive to mod. MY old 96 was not worth investing in so I sold it. etc. See what we are getting at ?

well it is your money so do what you want with it. You can make any car look really good for 4G's. I used to own a 95 z24 loved it. did it to the tits minus turbo. cost me an arm and a leg. but it was all fun getting there. now it is time for a new project for me. enjoy it while it last. I say go for it. decent price.

Tell me where this guy is lol....

I am in the process of finishing up my Beretta (once I get a new one probably a 1995-96).. And I need to get it painted and such.. So I mean if he is willing to do all of that for $4000.. I just wonder what he is willing to do when I jsut want painted and such..

I would say go for it.. It's your car your money.. In the end your the only one who truly knows what you want..

People will say the same thing about my Beretta.. Putting all this money into it and not getting the money back.. Well I say..

1) Not very many people do up Beretta's,..... So it makes it that much more unique
2) It's my money I spend it how I want
3) This is about having fun, and living a dream of a car that I have wanted done up since before I could drive (Beretta or Cavy)
4) So what if I don't make my money back?? Refer back to #3
5) I have enought money that I can, I also own a Cobalt SS.. So I mean I don't need to worry about someone makin fun of my Beretta.. Cause then I will just pull out the SS..

Like I said.. I would do it..

FX GTZ this shop is actually located in the west end of toronto, near Weston Road, and Finch. I went there and talked to the guy and bought a couple of seats from him. and as some people have suggested I will take the cautious approach, and ask everything in writing before I give him my car. So that i dont end up payaing for something that i dont like, or a half ass job. Sort of like a contract, and agreement. His site is:

Check him out, and let me know what you think. His paint jobs are awesome, ive seen a couple of cars he did, and they turned out really nice. Ill post some pics of the seats i got in Interior forum. check em out

Since when does modding your car increase the value of your car? Fetching 8K for your car is INCENTIVE to mod? Explain how that works...

I think you understand. WHY would I put 4000 $ into a car only worth 2000 to 2500 $.... Facts are facts that it is an older car not worth it. You would be better off investing a couple extra into a z24, or something a bit newer, and making mods onto a car which makes more sense. So really If I invest money into it, I will stil get something decent back. While his car will still fetch little to nil.

It sounds like a great price, but I am at the point now where I agree with it being a waste of money.
Before you take that to heart from everyone on here, look at who its comming from. I am saying it and I drive a car with a full kit and custom paint. So really who am I to speak! If I didn't do up my car when I was like 17 I would still want to do it. Unfortunatly I see now that I wasted all this money on it and I want something classier.
So I'd say if its something that you REALLY want to do, do it, good price, and Ive seen good work come out of that shop, seen pure crap too, but seen good. But before you do it, make sure its actualyl something that you REALLY want.
Good luck!
and if you do it post up some pictures...

hell if you want a kit, paint, lights, and interior you can buy my car, its for sale...

A car is a representation of oneself, maybe he has a connection with this car, and thats why he wants to mod it. Dont you ever stare at your ride, and picture mods on them. Well thats exactly what that fellas doing. Seriously, I hate body kits, and would never bye one (unless it was a lip or an add on to the existing bumper). You pay so much for a car, that depreciates so fast, but one always wants to be unique, and have people look at their car. Thats where they get their social respect.
