OK so I got a letter in the mail yesterday.... seems I need to have an interview with the ministry of transportation for my 9 demerit points accumulated in the past 2 yrs. From what the letter said the interview is to determine why my license should NOT be suspended.
Has anyone had to go to one of these? Any idea of what I could be in for would be helpful.
what the heck have you done in the last 2 yrs to lose those points. Driving is a privilege not a right, maybe should pay attention more when you drive.

Ya I do realize driving is a privilege and not a right.
I was an idiot is what the problem was. I have no problem admitting that because I've learned from my mistakes. I haven’t gotten a ticket in just over a year. Haven’t got a clue why it took so long for me to get this letter though.
If you really need to know I had one ticket for illegal left hand turn (2 points), one ticket for following to close (4 points), and one ticket for doing 130 in a 100 (3 points). Last ticket was the speeding ticket which happened at the end of last summer.
I didnt actually know that the illegal left hand turn and the following to close were so many points untill I got a letter saying how many points each were. If i knew that illegal left turn was 2 points and the following to close was 4 points I would have fought both because both were garbage tickets.
Back to my original question though, anyone ever had this problem or am I the worst driver on the org?
3 points for following to close is bull@!#$
I've had an interview, but a judge had already given me a suspension, so when I got to the ministry, they just said here's all your points back, go home.
That sounds good, but believe me, you don't want a suspension on your record. Your insurance company will bone you for that. And it takes 6 years to leave your record.
Just convince them that you've learned your lesson. Don't try to say that the tickets weren't valid, that won't help.
My license was suspended when I first started driving about 15 years ago. They never gave you an interview, just suspended your licence.
If you need your car to get to work, or can make a case that your car is required for your job they usually will have a hard time taking it away. They won't want you to lose your job and go on unemployment (possibly turn you into a criminal etc, etc).
It should just be a meeting with a bunch of other bad drivers (
)and a ministry worker. its like class. they talk to you and warn you about bad driving habbits.
Good luck man.

hehe well a few speedin tickets and wrong turns shouldn't be that bad ..... you guys watch the show.... Canada's WORST drivers!! now they shouldn't be allowed to have thier licenses!!!!
actually, in ontario you dont actually LOSE points when you get a ticket, you GAIN them.... the more points you have, the WORSE your record is.... a clean record would have 0 points....
